Well, YubiKey also can be stolen. Yeah, it still may add some protection because you can have it somewhat mounted to your clothes I guess.

Let's not be too demanding: people don't even call bank when their authorization device is stolen.

Correct, but a YubiKey should be treated like your house or car key. And I was talking about some new device that can connect to your smartphone to lock it down in case it's stolen, isn't this a golden idea? I also came up with non-alcoholic Tiramisu for the supermarkets, nobody thought of this yet, strangely enough. :D

Yes I read about it, I wouldn't be surprised if more people will get interested in this stuff.

Let me know what you think of these programs. I first bought Protectstar Firewall AI Pro to go along with Emsisoft Mobile Security as I don't use a VPN. I don't bank online or do anything that I felt the need for a VPN. I then tried the Protectstar Anti Spy free as a scanner, but then updated to the 7-day pro trial. After some research and discussion with Protectstar (they indicated that AntiVirus AI has replaced Anti Spy and there would be no conflicts running two AV's on Android) I purchased a license for AntiVirus AI Pro. I have noticed no conflicts or slowdowns on my S22. BTW I love that you can also set a Private DNS in the firewall. I am using Cloud9 DNS.

    My setup is:
Protectstar Firewall AI Pro (Quad9 DNS)
    Protectstar AntiVirus AI Pro
    Emsisoft Mobile Security

Any all security apps on Android an iOS are useless and unnecessary.
All you need is a private DNS, preferred mullvad DNS, and a browser, that supports µBlock Origin.

I am interested in Firewall AI Pro. Why do you think it's worth using, as opposed to just DNS filtering?

I decided to go with the pro after trying the free version. It gives you control over which apps you want to allow to have internet connections. It has real-time protection, that is when a new app is installed it is not allowed to connect to the internet until you have checked it out (in my case scan it with either AntiVirus Pro or Emsisoft). It has its own built-in filter list for an added layer of protection. According to their website: "The app uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to automatically block malicious traffic and prevent unauthorized access to your device. Firewall AI monitors all incoming and outgoing traffic on your device and alerts you to any suspicious activity in real-time." It has DNS filtering (optional) with over 20 servers to choose from including Cloudflare, Google, AdGuard, OpenDNS and Quad9. I like the very professional UI. I downloaded it from their website (rather than Google Play) for the Pro version. I was pleasantly surprised when I contacted customer support on a Saturday and got a quick response to a few questions. Through their website it is $9.90 a year or $29.90 lifetime for the Pro version. They are a U.S. company in Florida. It seems to work well, although I am not an IT professional so I have not tested it against malware. In the month or so since I purchased it it seems to do what it claims. Whether it is really necessary some may say no, but I feel more secure with it.

I've been running my new setup for about five weeks now, seems to be working as advertised.
The Firewall blocked a bad site with a fake warning about my phone having 27 viruses or something like that. (I turned it off to load the site and found out)
The Antivirus, Camera Guard and Microphone guard all alerted me when testing with Eicar.
So far I'm satisfied with Protectstar.
All 4 apps update frequently, at least twice a day.

Isn't Sophos Intersept X for business only?

How do you like IVPN? Always wanted to check them out. Thanks.

Sophos is working just fine here.
I've been using IVPN for quite a long time, no issues with it whatsoever except a little pricey.

Still may go back to that setup, I just like trying out new setups / different combos.
Never needed their customer service so I can't help you there.

Sophos Intersept X started to use entirely too much battery.
New setup, at least for now.......

    Protectstar Antivirus AI Pro
    IVPN
(sometimes running Mullvad VPN, have license for both)

I've had it on my phones since 2017 and haven't had any issues so far. It just sits there quietly. If I disconnect from the web for awhile it will send a query. What kinda problems are you having?

I don't recall all the details but it wasn't doing its job. I tried to remotely do something for a test and it wasn't doing anything.

Well, about my idea to lockdown stolen mobile phones from remote, HP Wolf has now introduced such a feature for laptops. Apparently it even works without an internet connection. :p
