I have a Toshiba and a HP. I like them both, nothing more nothing less. Both run diff. apps. One I like, the other ones I need.

I gotta go with the Toshiba. Very durable laptop for the money. Still use one that I bought in 2001. Slow by today's standards but hate to retire it just yet.

    Cheers

My husband bought me the Dell Inspiron 8600 Intel Pentium M Processor 715 (1.50A GHz/400MHz FSB) with 1 GB RAM (2 Dimms) for our anniversary last year. The screen size is 15.4 inches and the weight is 6.9 pounds. CNet tested the battery life to be 219 minutes. It has a built in integrated 10/100 Network Card and Modem, CDRW and DVD player, and a 40GB Harddrive.

We have XP PRO OS, Microsoft Office Basic which includes Word and Excel, and Adobe® Acrobat® Elements 6.0 which allows me to publish to PDF.

The machine was ordered to include my wants except that I would have preferred a lighter machine, but my husband wanted the 15.4 screen size. He's the one who has to carry it when we travel. ;) We have a rolling case, a USB mouse, and an extra battery for it. We have about $1600 invested in it.

So far it has exceeded my expectations for a laptop, although I prefer working with a desktop when available. I haven't had it long enough to comment on durability.

Laptop here in our country was still very expensive and only the "rich" and famous can afford it. (of course except second hand or it's a gift) :p

I don't have laptop, but if I have some money to spare then I will choose the one that is durable... :ninja: shock proof and water proof and if possible - hacker proof. *puppy* and also as long as it gives me the speed and reliability of my own needs. ;)
