Thank you. I've decided to try PandaIS as well. Yeah, it doesn't let me forget that I'm using trial version. :)

Windows Defender here. Light and without ads/pop-ups etc...

I wouldn't trade it for any other, paid included.

I am also a happy user of the WSA-AV free bank version on my main PC (Windows 7).

    Windows Defender.
I'd consider a free AV from my bank if it weren't McAfee.

I'm using the free version of Panda and once you switch off Panda News the only nagging is at the bottom of the GUI.

    pandagui.jpg

As you can see here in the bottom left hand part of the GUI.

Thanks, that's good to know. Unfortunately there is no Panda News option in trial versions of Panda's paid products.

I've never used a free AV as I think paying for a reasonable subscription is a form of donation/contribution towards research in this field. My two Win 10 machines have paid versions of Avira although the AV has a perfunctory function in the security setup. My Vista machine is no longer supported by Avira and therefore I've decided to run it without an AV, so far so good. My wife has been using an XP machine for years only with Shadow Defender and no AV or other layers, not one single issue ever (I certainly wouldn't use it for bank transactions though)...

It's as easy as unchecking this radio button from 'on' to 'off'. :thumb:

Interesting results so far, the leaders seem to be no AV or Defender thus eclipsing the big names so far :)

I'm using WD, but only because it is fully integrated with W10 etc. If I had to install an AV, I wouldn't.

Comodo: not because I think that it is the most effective, but because it is part of CIS, so I have not conflicts. Every week i do a deep scan with another, on demand AV as check.

i dont use a real time av, just comodo firewall 10 with cruelsister's settings.
before i coupled it with qihoo 360ts, but they added too many ads.
if one day cfw is discontinued, i think i'll use voodooshield on autopilot mode plus a light fw (tinywall or binisoft wfc), plus (not sure) a cloud-only av (tencent or mcafee)

The only free AV that I use is Sophos on my Windows 10 Insider test VM. On main Windows 10 PC I use Webroot.

You are contributing by simply using it. The reason why they offer free version is to gather malware samples, information about webpages and so on, it helps to improve its quality, thus benefits paying customers, mostly companies, home users paying for it are nothing in comparison. But a nice job anyway, I enable sending statistics in products for the same reason, like in adguard. ;)
