If you have no security scanner on your Android OS how can you know that you don't have malware? I don't think you can count on malware always making itself apparent, eg pop-ups, push ads, whatever. On the desktop the most dangerous malware keeps itself hidden.

In my 5 years Android experience never had serious malware on my devices. Easy removable adware at most.

Currently I'm using no security software, although I do tend to have Clean Master installed quite often. I've never got infected from the hundreds of apps I've installed from the Play Store, or from the apps I've installed from third party app stores (mostly Chinese app stores), which often have updates to apps before they are offered via the play store, and even updates to the play store itself.

As I result, I don't really feel the need to be running security software on my various Android devices.

How can you have reasonable certainty that there is no malware on the device if you don't have an anti-malware scanner...? What do you consider serious malware and how would you know if it's on the device? Rootkits are designed to hide themselves. Here's an interesting read:

    http://resources.infosecinstitute.com/need-know-linux-rootkits/

When Windows was first targeted by viruses many people thought it was a hoax; eventually it became apparent to everyone that malware was a real threat to the Windows OS. There have already been documented incidents of malware on Android.

    Nothing.

Security on all mobile phones/tablets its handled through the twin Layer-7 UTM's.

I would notice, don't you think? If malware doesn't do any damage, what kind of malware is this? I only use apps from developers with good reputation. And so on...

Most malware these days don't damage the OS itself, but instead stealthily steals private info.

Then again, getting infected from a centralised repository is far less likely than the wild west of the Internet.

Question: What do you guys use for privacy scanning, and any AV's for Android with good privacy scanning capabilities?

Clean Master and CM Security takes care of that adequately imo.

My first Android,Samsung 5...Trying Dr Web Antivirus 9.01.6 (2) w/firewall. Not sure how good this AV is on a phone but no drag on system and like the layout of the program.

I don't do Chinese security, so that leaves out CM.

Going with Trend on the mobiles as I have free licensed for it, so far so good.
