I would like a deepfreeze style software that is more affordable but also offers more "cache" then the Microsoft Solution.
Mainly I perform large matrix computations so tremendous amount of data swapping so the Microsoft solution constantly reboots my system when the cache fills up.

Also I would like a smart solution that would allow me to keep the microsoft updates that happen each Update tuesday.

    Hi GrammatonCleric,
Have you tried RVS Pro or RSS Pro yet? If not, the virtualization component uses dynamic caching where it can make use of all available free space on the System partition for its cache which you can adjust upwards to resolve the issue you encounter when the cache fills during your work process.

As for the MS Updates, the Virtual Mode needs to be released before you can apply said updated in RVS/RSS (restart the system to release the VM but no restart required to re-start the VM).

All three versions have remote management support where you can power cycle the client system remotely as well as to change the client preferences to turn the VM off when required. The 3x versions console can be used from any JAVA enabled device or browser with an Internet connection with the 2x version limited to remote management within the LAN.

Returnil is a very good option:thumb: If you want you can also try EXE radar pro and see if it meets your requirements:)

Do any of the solutions have impact on the system in terms of performance?
I am looking to minimize the impact due to large computational needs.

    Thanks!

Take a look to Shadow defender -http://www.shadowdefender.com/-

Virtual machines will always reduce the performance in a very noticiable way.

Probably the lighest option is install Comodo D+ (HIPS) train it for the things that should run and restric the exectuion of unknown files unless you change the setting in case that is a computer that you don't use for personal use. If you use it you can use Comodo with the proactive settings.
    http://www.comodo.com/home/internet-security/firewall.php It's free

But the most important in your case I think that is a backup software.

    ShadowDefender or ReturnNill

Ok so I am about to invest in one of those the question is which one.
Both sound great on paper/HTML but what are the current user impressions? I have read the 2009 thread on the topic but that was 2 years ago and 2 versions ago so things might have changed.

    My main concerns are:
    1) Resource Usage
    2) Ability to change my mind whether I want to have the session wiped or saved without the need to reboot and boot into save session option.
    3) Ability to play nice with other security solutions like NOd32 and OnlineArmor without increasing resource usage.
    4) Protection against MBR based infections.
    5) Full integration with Win7 64bit is a must.

Why don't you just use an Image system instead

guest,I dont think your aware about shadowdefenders site that it may have been compromised by fraud. The author tony of a fantastic shadow defender is believed to be no longer tony in control.see here www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?p=1921177

To the OP stay clear from shadowdefender.com,until further notice of the original author but dont get your hopes of it.

Yeah I certainly would be wary of it based on recent developments.

Nothing if you already have it. I would be scared to buy it now though.
