Whenever I run XP CHKDSK from the Recovery CD, it states that it "found and fixed one or more errors" at the conclusion of the scan.

Yet when I ran it again for the 2nd time (immediately afterwards)....I get the same message again. Is it possible that CHKDSK is unable to fix "file system" errors?

I've already ran SPINRITE and my HDD has no bad sectors or errors.

Is there some software out there BETTER than CHKDSK?

Any help/info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Did you try to run chkdsk c: /f?
Or another option chkdsk c: /r, which is more time consuming.

I ran the chkdsk with the /r command in the recovery console (which I was told is the best thing to do). Problem is that everytime I run it, it states that it fixed 1 or more errors (even on consecutive scans).

Is CHKDSK not fixing the errors?

Go My Computer, C-Drive (or the drive in question), Properties, Tools, Error-Checking, Check Now, Check BOTH boxes and reboot your system. This will take a while but it goes deeper than just CHKDDSK (to find bad blocks).

Have you run the diagnostics from the drive manufacturer to check for bad sectors?

Yes I have. No bad sectors at all. Some issue(s) with the Volume System files or bitmap files.
