What does ''Get host by name'' function mean?

    I saw the following in my event log today.

    Time Module Event User
    12/16/2005 9:28:56 AM Update Function: gethostbyname, parameters: , return value: 11001


    What does this mean?

    In layman’s terms it means that Nod32 is unable to connect to the servers to update and it is advising you of such. There are many reasons for this error, such as a Wireless connection still establishing its connection, or a USB Broadband Modem still establishing a connection while Nod32 attempts to update...

    In short, no, so long as Nod32 does actually update (I would need to see further logs to confirm this).

    That makes sense. While I unisntalled and re-installed some other security programs I use (took off Spywareguard, downloaded new version of Spybot and implemented the tea timer), I had my internet activity shut down.

    Case closed, thanks.
