    Incorrect.

You'll still be able to access websites that'll have spyware / adware code written in HTML or Java enhanced websites. Premium will detect the bad stuff though :argh:

If you consider someone telling you

"Reading comprehension isnt your friend" insulting, boy your either really young or haven't been out in the real world much, there's far worse ways of "insulting" as you put it :D

The beta sounds great.:thumb: Boost, it isnt every page, but maybe half that are real slow opening up, and that is with webguard installed or not.

I really meant this thread as a feedback thread for Avira as swhat we would like to see.

Not a pissing contest for 2 people here.

One thing I didnt want this thread to be,but I wont let people bash a product either that they dont even use, period.
Avira seems to be targeted alot on these forums and I'm tired of it.

no problem, but how about you make your point and then leave it. I really wanted this thread to be more constructive and positive. Not another typical Wilders chest pounding thread. Oh well, doesnt matter.

So what does "enhanced" mean? How does Avira Premium detect these baddies before it has got the definitions, compared to free version. The man below (he should know) says by blocking access.

    From
    Marcus Matten
    Project Manager Engine Core
    Avira GmbH

"Mele: very frequently the binary versions of Malware/Spyware/Adware are changing, but the websites distributing them remain the same. So, webguard checking for access to these websites does actually provide a fair level of additional protection from new Adware/Spyware/Malware from the active surfers point of view.

Take the W32/Virut Virus Family as an example. It has been distributed only by a handful of websites (less than 10) during its entire lifetime. However there have been hundreds of binary, hand-adapted variants of this polymorphic critter done specifically to evade existing generic detections, and adding such malware is often a bit more time consuming (we're talking hours to days). For the surfing end-user, simply blocking these URLs provides effective protection against initial infection during the time we need to implement an adapted detection. And yes, I know you use the "original HIPS" as you refer to Process Guard and Proxomitron. But you are hardly an average user

Hope this helps to explain why this is actually a pretty powerful feature for most people."

It's nice to see Avira getting this hips type of tool. Hopefully it will not be to intrusive. The AV is one of the best in the business and to add an additional layer of security should be a good thing.

I recently tested the suite (with webguard) and noticed that Avira was reasonably fast on this 5 years old computer with only 512 MB RAM.
I'm not sure why your experience is different. In my trial I used a clean image (made before installing security software).

As it's not your product, nor one that you have had any involvement in beyond being a user, how does this affect your life?

He's going to tattoo Avira on hes chest, run through the streets with nothing on but an Avira umbrella, and beat people down with it that say bad things about the product.
