I have tried most of the aforementioned filters and popup stoppers and all I can say is this; do yourself a favour and just TRY Admuncher. It's about a 12 second download and it will solve all of your problems no matter what browser you use. I don't even know what popups and ads look like anymore because I have been using Admuncher for over two years.

The best download and purchase I ever made. :)

It's good , but try blocking their IP address in your firewall and see how many times a day it calls home ;) .

I like to use a browser built in popup blocker , such as Crazybrowser which has it's own blocklist , Outpost firewall blocking active scripting and popups and various merged HOSTS files , seems to cover 99% of all crap including popups nicely. :D

While I do not recommend IE for the un-informed or those that wish not to learn how to properly secure the browser....properly configured settings keeps me secure from any publicly known malware....least of which is pop-ups.

Hah! Great question! We cannot tell you which of all the layered defense is doing what by now but we do use Maxthon which blocks ads. The interesting thing is that we get an option to block certain popups and others are just dis-allowed as if it is an intelligent blocker.

What do you people do who have complete popup blocking and you go to a website that has a legitimate (non-ad) popup that you may wish to view?

    Be seeing you.

There are options in Firefox to allow popups.

Do you get an initial popup first and then excercise the option yea or nay?
For example you can use this page (not ours) as an example.

I also have Proxomitron too. I haven't had a popup in a long time. Pre Firefox.

That only occurs the first time you use Firefox. It's a feature to tell newbies, what is happening.

type about:Config in the address/location bar.

Look for privacy.popups.firstTime when it is set to true, it will result in a popup whenever a popup is blocked then switch itself off to false.

For IE, absolutely nothing except my mouse and I for the moment but Pilli has my interest stirred up with Avanti. My fav "AccountLogin" proggie will need to work with it though. I use FireFox too with built-in. I do own PopUp Inspector but haven't used it for awhile. I've tried various freebies but didn't care for them.

When I'm using my ISP's browser, I use the built in Pop-up blocker. If I'm using IE, I have the Yahoo! Toolbar. Works just fine...love it when it "busts" those annoying pop-up ads. :D

I use the pop up blocker built into ZAPRO 4.5. Works very well. Also a little free program called NoAds. Both do the job.
