wow........thank you all for your kind responses. Well the vote seems to be Firefox, Opera and K-meleon . Now I guess I'll have to try them to see which one I prefer. The only problem is that if I don't like one, I uninstall and then have a bunch of junk left in my clean newly formatted pc. Gee I wish I knew which of the 3 are best. I read all the posts and links. I'm still not sure..........Your votes are compelling. I'll have to sort it out I guess. :):):) If you have other comments to add, they are very much appreciated and thank you all for all your help. :):) Melle from Startrekland. :)

In that case most votes were for opera so no problem unless u make it one. Looks good, fast, secure, easy, handy, nice features such as memorized tabs, speeddial what else do u want.

Look under edit, advanced preferences. Layers are nothing more than tabs. There are many options in K-Meleon. I would take my time and explore. :D

Thanks everyone. :) I can see that the tie is close between Firefox and Opera. Has anyone heard of Maxthon? What do you think of it? I'll be reading and looking and trying these out. :):) About Firefox, if it really needs all those extensions to work properly, how fast can it be? Melle :) PS" I'Ll also give K-meleon a try to see what's up with that. :)

    msmelle,

I used Maxthon since 2003 until February of 2006...
Since that, I'm using Opera and find it much better in all the aspects...

:) I'm tempted to give Opera a try then. I did try it last year or the year before but I hadn't been much impressed over IE. Perhaps I'll give it another try. :) Thanks :) Melle :)

Go through each of the layers settings. You are using Version 1.1 right? :)

Hi gang. I'm trying out Opera at the moment. Plain and simple and no widgets. I'll give it a try for awhile and then I'll see if I like it better than IE6. I don't like IE7 though. I guess it's the tabbed browsing thing I don't like much. Maybe cause I'm not use to it. Thanks :):) Melle

thank.ronjor.i got the answer on the forum.Edit -> Advanced Preferences -> under Category ( left part of display ) click on K-Melon Plugins -> Click on Netscape Bookmarks -> Click on Bookmarks Menu ( right part of display ) -> click on In a new layer ( radio button rather then In the current layer ) -> Click on the Close button

You may do the same for IE Favorites and/or Opera Hotlist.it worked out.thanks for all the help.ronjor.

    Couple of options...

A- Install & test in frozen state (DeepFreeze)

    OR

B- Monitor install of each program with Zsoft. Then, when you are done testing a given program, uninstall it as follows...
    1- Uninstall with ControlPanel > Add/Remove
    2- Reboot
    3- Uninstall again using Zsoft
4- Reboot -- that puppy is ALL gone!

    OR

    C- Image-then-test-then-restore using Image for DOS (IFD) {NOTE: There are choices vice IFD -- including but not limited to Rollback & FDISR}

    It works here too.
You may have to shutdown K-Meleon than re-start it for it to work.
That's the way it worked for me.

I've seen this repeated many times and by members i know very well here. You happen to have a good direct link to this Browser ronjor?

I always used Opera when not running IE, which gets a lot of miles in spite of it's swiss cheese structure. LoL

bellgamin suggested K-Melleon so I loaded that one up for about 18 months now. Indeed it is good too. :thumb:
