Besides CLAM, what other Anti-Virus programs are free and open source?
Well, there is OpenAntiVirus Project
A site with updates that ended in 2004, neat
As far as I know, OpenAV project is a platform which uses other scanners as for detection.
Ya, and better to read the warn in the link above: " Please DO NOT use ScannerDaemon/VirusHammer as your sole virus protection at all!...."
Just my opinion, but a noncommercial program (it could be anything) that requires daily maintenance to be fully functional (this is a basic requirement for an AV), is a fundamentally flawed proposition. As a programming exercise, it has merit.
Agreed, and what I thought when I read this. Its one thing for (often) volunteers to put time into a product with a set end goal. AVs by necessity are living, breathing apps, requiring constant changes / updates. That's a lot to ask volunteers to provide.
Considering the excellent response-times to threats from the Clam team, this kite seems not to be flying for ClamAV
lol for asking but what is opensource?
Separate names with a comma.
