I knew you would say that :D BUT the vendor has developed the product(chrome).

If I wouldn't trust the vendor and developer then how can I trust the products they make?

    For example...
I trust Appguard but I don't trust Blue ridge.
    I trust NOD32 but I don't trust ESET.

That doesn't work for me. It only makes sense to use the product if I trust the vendor behind it. :)

Till this day we have seen zero proof that any vendor does that now, or have done that in the past. Imagine it is one thing anyone can do that, but showing if it is true would be more interesting.

You interpreted the word "imagine" in my post incorrectly, ze. It should be taken as: it's very easy for them to mishandle the users' data to do such irresponsible things if they ever had an intention to. Even the government/DEA mishandled personal data of an individual, why can't the AV vendors do the same? ;)

Yes you're right. But the thread is about trusting companies and not about software. I can trust Chrome to provide me relatively safe browsing experience, but I don't have to trust Google and don't have to believe that they wouldn't misuse information they get from me.

I voted that I didn't trust any of them. But I'm paranoid. :cautious:

One is a company providing a service having their reputation on the line, the other is part of the government what do they have to lose? They don't have employees and customers in the same way as the AV company does. I kind of expect government agencies to do things like that, don't you? ;) I think that it would look more serious and the news headlines would be bigger if anyone finds out that an AV vendor does mishandle the data or similar. I'm not saying that it hasn't happened without anyone finding out in the past, or that it won't happen in the future, but we have seen no proof yet.

Well I have already explained, both company/developer/vendor and software/product matters to me.

Ok I rest my case, we clearly look at this from different angles you and I. :)

It could happen under the table. ;) TBH I'm still thinking about how to trick AVs to not having their hands on the users' real IDs, but I'm stuck lol. :D
