This is a great one, I use it since a while and it's perfect IMO.
    but it's not a FF add-on.

I found request policy frustrating, its reaching a point where even installing 4-5 decent and recommended Firefox extensions, takes the joy away from surfing so just deleted requestpolicy!

I found Nosript even more worse....

Its like you want to order a pizza and that will not happen till next Tuesday, feels fidly to have to add to whitelist and add to exclusions every 5 minutes.

Maybe its better to use a 2 browsers one that is no extensions and one without, I heard trying to do so may add/write to the same "profile" maybe using 2 portable Firefoxes in separate folders can resolve this ?

you can use 2 different profiles, no need to have another FF running as portable.
If you install Profile Switcher add-on you simplify your life and you can switch with just one click.

they are very good tools bur somewhat nerdy and geeky.
it's not for everyone, that's for sure.

i find Ghostery way more easy to use, but not as powerful as NS or RP.

I use both Noscript and RequestPolicy.

Yes, Ghostery can block the same scripts and requests without any extra effort from the user, but you're not the one who decides what should be blocked. Rather, Ghostery (Evidon) decides what you will block or not.

In NS and RP it's the users who are in control, not the addon. It just takes some time to get used to them. You can even import/export the whitelists for using them in another machine.

RP overlaps with NS in some features and functions. I had drawn attention of the RP developer. He said the overlapping would be minimized in version 1. And that was more than one and a half years ago. Still waiting.....:(

I just read about a new security addon kinda like HTTPS finder and HTTPS Everywhere but the concept is completely different:
    HTTP Nowhere:

Session Manager saves your tabs in the frequent situations where Firefox fails to.

Lazarus saves typed text, great if the browser or system crashes.

Team Cymru has an extension that scans your downloads.

When Australis comes out I will definitely install an extension that seems to fit the bill with all the things Mozilla will be taking out and changing. Below is the blog by Aris link to the extension that I will download then when it's hosted on Mozilla addons, for now I've got the blog bookmarked because I like to follow its progress. http://aris-at-mozilla.blogspot.ca/ I recommend reading the entire article.

It's constantly under revisions and changes now so don't download until Australis stable arrives. (anyways, no download available in the blog)

ghostery looks interesting, When I install on family and freinds machines I skip noscript as it would just annoy and confuse them, but ghostery seems a variant better for the less geeky?

    so what?

    they are upfront about it.

and it does what it says on the tin.
which is to block adds and save bandwidth.

i think it's a perfect fit for people who think NoScript is too complicated.

They are not, and you cannot expect any lobbying organisation to be. Evidon's business model can be summarised as strategically redefining privacy on the ad industry's terms, avoiding or preventing legislation that might safeguard this very privacy in the process.
And I think people should decide for themselves what their 'perfect fit' is, and are entitled to the information they need to do so. Evidon's promise of transparency and control is a blatant lie.

when i was using it i was just grateful that it cut down on the sludge quite a lot.

i even allowed their Ghost Ranking or whatever it's called.

i'm not really overly concerned with privacy, i'm much more interested in cutting down the page load times and the sludge.

Does anyone know a extension to save webpages to disk en masse? For example, to save all the webpages currently opened, or all bookmarks/a bookmark folder.

The only extension I know of that actually works for me when I do research is Evernote... https://evernote.com/

and it has a lot of extensions for it available https://trunk.evernote.com/

The good thing is that you can also push everything to Evernote applications if you chose to also install it. (desktop/online) your choice, if you choose online only (Firefox extension) it becomes portable instantly to any other devices you use...

I have Evernote installed everywhere... Smartphone, pc's .... Tablet... Cant live without it anymore.

    Pretty kool software...

Seems nice software, but I still have to save every page one by one. I have about a 100 bookmarks, I want to save all those webpages to my computer in case they get deleted/site hacked etc. If there is an addon that allows saving of all open tabs, or a folder of bookmarks then the process would be tons faster.

Oh, perhaps you want to look at Local Website Archive
    http://aignes.com/lwa.htm
Here is the Firefox extention for it: http://aignes.com/firefox/index.htm

I once used his AMNotes program extensively (not since Evernote came out)

I never tried his web site spying technology or this archival tool however his other tools are good.

    Maybe worth a try!

My download manager can do that. I use Flashget 1.73. In Firefox press Ctrl+Shift+B then select all the bookmarks, copy and paste to a .lst file then import the file(Ctrl+L) in Flashget.

Also interesting software, but also just capable of one at a time.

It works, but it doesn't save the entire site, just the index.htm

Not a Firefox extension, but you can try the program HTTrack. You can download entire websites and afaik, you can input multiple urls (sites) in one job.
