Yeah, that just about sums it up.

I just read his post, not sure how a Facebook button would "help the project", but it's not a big deal IMO as a few posts later he wrote:

    So that's why I don't see it. ;)

He also added a FAQ for hiding the button: https://adblockplus.org/en/faq_customization#facebook_remove

It was added to the latest release 1.3.5 (26 March): http://adblockplus.org/en/changelog-1.3.5

Yeah, that explains it. Sorry I didn't read far enough, though I'm still not so sure it's the right move. In any case, considering I can't see anything in ABP at the moment, I guess I wouldn't have seen it regardless :D

What is that supposed to mean? CCleaner does the job fine for me.

Some folks over at Mozillazine are of the opinion that using the "compact databases" option in CCleaner can actually degrade the database structure.

I don't have any issues with it. The saved space is great for my ramdisk.

Where are the posts that says such things?

Here's Wladimir Palant's statement abiut this issue. I must admit that I don't like that button either. On the other hand I'd say that we should not over-dramatize. Wladimir is right in saying that nobody is forced to use that button - and it was already shown how to remove it.

As for FF4 - I'm not having any problems either ...

    Re: optimaze database

I think you're looking for something like Vacuum Paces Improved or PlacesCleaner. I had used them FF 3.6 but not in FF 4: If I install any of them FF 4 stalls as soon as I acesss the extension manager. I guess it's an incompatibility with one of my other extensions.

EDIT: And the culprit seems to be TabMixPlus. Unfortunately, I love this extensions, and there seems to be no real replacement ...

I noticed that FF4 includes sqlite3.exe. To save loading yet another add-on, you could run the following from a command prompt:
    Code:
    "<firefox path>\sqlite3" "<profile path>\places.sqlite" vacuum
Or vacuum the lot in one go:
    Code:
    for %a in (<profile path>\*.sqlite) do ("<firefox path>\sqlite3" %a vacuum)

For Linux there is a script on http://www.webgapps.org/firefox/database-optimization

Not exactly an extension but a small user style for the Stylish add-on that tweaks the Add-on Manager page:
Firefox 4 - Better Addons Manager

This in turn can be tweaked to change the background color for those who prefer darker pages.

@tlu: I already have that something, it's called CCleaner.

@vasa1: No reason at all eh? Then it's just an opinion that I can ignore.
The thread also mentions idle vacuuming of places.sqlite in Firefox 4, but that's just one of many .sqlite files that CCleaner can compact.

is there a effective pup ups blocker for firefox 4?

FF has a good pop-up blocker. The rest is blocked by AdblockPlus and/or Noscript.

Is CCleaner really able to defragment sqlite databases?

Reading from THIS CCleaner page which refers to 'Applications' Tab:
    Code:
[B]Compact Databases[/B] - Some Web browsers (notably Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome) use databases
to store bookmarks, history, and other data.
When you remove information from these databases, they may still take up room with fragmented space.
If you select Compact Database, CCleaner will defragment and trim unused space from these databases.

well firefox 4 and ablockplus often miss some pop up

i guess they are my fault , i mean i add the wrong subscriptions

which are the more effective subscriptions for europe (the more important for me) and world subscriptions?

I have EasyList which can be completed with some country-based subscriptions (like Germany, France and others) and EasyPrivacy. The complete list can be found here. But as mentioned, I also have the built-in pop-up blocker enabled and use Noscript.
