When I try to run programs that require DDRAW.DLL, it says that it cannot open and that I should check the file. When I check the file it says that it needs wgscan.exe to work. so, after checking another forum they said it was WormGuard so I downloaded Wormguard 3 (i think) and it still doesnt work. If anyone knows whats going on plz tell me
WGscan is indeed a WG file but I do not believe that Worm Guard is the problem here but your ddraw.dll as there is no association by WG to this file - DLL Information DLL File: ddraw or ddraw.dll DLL Name: Microsoft DirectDraw DLL Description: DirectDraw is a part of DirectX and is used by games and multimedia applications to display 2D graphics System DLL: Yes Common Errors: File Not Found, Missing File, Exception Errors Solution: Download WinTasks to find out which application is using this DLL. Many problems can be solved by resinstalling this application. If the DLL is missing, download it to your windows system folder. HTH. Pilli
Hi, Its possible for some files you double click on to think they need WGUARD.EXE to be used - if they weren't associated with a program. Did you click on a DLL file ? ( you shouldn't, they cant be run ) Checking the file doesnt mean running it, just make sure it EXISTS. Actually now that I think about it, install the latest DirectX version for DDRAW problems - do you know what version you have ? In Wormguard, press REMOVE to make sure the hook isnt installed, and then the problem might go away, although it might not. Please let us know exactly what program you are running for the error to occur, and if it is gone.
Im having almost the same problem except for with .pdf files. My error says wgscan.exe is needed for opening .pdf file types. The location target is in my C:/ but nowhere to be found. My question is how can I get to open .pdf files again? Please someone respond soon...Aggrivated with wgscan.exe.....
Hi Emily, This will work on NT/2K and I think XP and it may work on Win9x/ME Using windows explorer, browse to a folder that contains a .pdf file. Press the Shift key and while holding it down, right-click the mouse on a pdf file. In the popup window you should see "Open With" -> "Choose Program", select that and when the program selection window pops up make sure to select the "always use this program" button and scroll down to Acrobat or Acrobat Reader and select it and press okay. Once this is done, double-click on the file and it should open up in Acrobat. HTH, Dan
