The forum downtime and server migration has now been completed!

As a few of you may have noticed, we had a little glitch with DNS which had us pointing to the wrong location for a little while, but it looks like that's fixed now.

If you are reading this post, you are now really on the new server!

We're still trying to determine if this is the final IP address or not. Currently it shows as "64.91.255.104" which was not what we were told it would be. We'll let you know once we work everything out with the Hosting company.

Update: 64.91.255.104 is the final IP address.

A small number of posts were lost when DNS accidentally pointed us to the wrong board. People are already reposting those here.

Also, the clock is wrong. We will be resetting that as well.

    Otherwise, things look good! :D

If you see anything odd/wrong, let us know here in this thread.

    Thanks ladies & gents ;)

A move like this is "fingers crossed" right from the start - too many times we've seen severe accidents happen in sortalike situations. Fortunately, we only did encounter relatively few ;).

If all is well, you should notice at the least quite a speed burst now :)

Glad to see you all again!

    regards.

    Re:Welcome to the new server!

Just a quick tip to compensate for the server clock being set wrong...

Until we actually manage to reset the clock safely, you can make a modification to your member profile (accessed via this button at the top of every page: [profile] ). The minutes are off by 0.21 of an hour, so you can set a time offset to correct for that.

Since I am in the USA Eastern Time Zone (EST), this following offset gives me a correct time in thread and at the top of the forum: (-4.21)

Just in case there are any other people here like me who are bothered by stuff like this. ;)

    - Clock adjustment occurred, offset changed from -4.39 to -4.21

The clock is no longer out of sync - UTC it is ;)

Those who manually corrected this in their profile.... :D

Actually, the time shown at the top of the forum is off by an hour (probably due to DST) - but the time shown in my profile settings is correct. Pete

Actually, this server is located in a different time zone from the last one Pete. The old hosting company was in the Central time zone (USA) and this one is in Eastern.

The time you see in the "member profile" screen is the server's actual clock. It shows there so the member will be able to tell how much time they need to add or subtract (in a range of -23.5 to +23.5) in order to display the correct time for their location.

I'm in the Eastern time zone so I used to use an offset of "1", but with this move I needed to change that to "0" to show the correct time here.

It looks like all members will have to adjust their time offset's (down 1 in most cases) to get the correct time displayed.

Please note that the time correction will cause a few strange effects until time catches up again. Also, time stamps on some posts will be off, as well as some forum stats and such.

Everything should return to normal soon.

Congrats from a "newbie" on the new server ! My timing's perfect, as I'll never know what this site looked like before...

I won't complain about the clock being off by a few minutes...After all, what's a few minutes, when we can spend HOURS typing away in these forums ! ;)

    Regards from Canada,

    Phil
