other anti-malware forum as to whether anti-spyware software is still necessary. Someone linked a Virus Bulletin chart and this WebWasher had like 99% detection rate. What is the story about this product? I've been a NOD32 user for over four years but come November if there is something better I might try it.

It's a gateway product, so really it has no place here. As to detection rate, it's easy to have 99% accuracy when the product flags just about everything as malware (VERY high FP rate).

I think there will always be a need for anti-spyware software. As for the 99% detection rate I would like to know what FP rate they have. :cautious:

yes but if memory servers be its a OLD version of the engine. and just because they use it don't mean they know how to code a driver for it to make it work correctly. :cautious: ZAIS use's KAV but there FP rate is Much higher then KAV!

AFAIK, lots of WW false positives (most of them actually) come from their own developed engine, not the avira one.

Looks like Webwasher needs to be listed as a rogue software.
