This Webroot thread has become VERY quiet. I am still hoping Webroot will soon show signs of life as manifested by systemic improvements & a better GUI.

I agree we were promised a Script Shield and a Anti-Exploit Shield over a year ago and some Beta's do have some signs of a Script Shield at times but no sign of the Anti-Exploit Shield and this Green UI has been in place since 2013 but have not heard anything about updating it...

I've been a Webroot user/supporter for close to 5 years. However, like probably a lot of people, I'm getting nervous about the future of Webroot. So, I'm moving to ESET when my licenses run out. I've already got one laptop using ESET and I'm liking it so far.

Well I've got 2 licensed keys for ESET when everything hits the fan! Carbonite will lose ALOT of Webroot customers over this. Especially when there are so many issues running Webroot now..

I have been a loyal fan of Webroot for almost 6 years and it's difficult to have to move on....

I've also noticed things have changed with the company and now after the sell out to Carbonite for peanuts ($$$). I've been using the Webroot product since 2004 (Spy Sweeper). Hope things improve.

I think that's being unfair to Webroot.

By all accounts, Spysweeper was a great product, as was Window Washer, though I never used either myself so I am basing what I say on second hand accounts.

However I did know Prevx which was a truly amazing AV product, and which was acquired by Webroot and taken by them (using the exact same Prevx development team) to a new level of sophistication and excellence. To leave that part of Webroot's history out of the picture would be to render a great disservice to them.

Whether this will continue/is continuing into the future is a question we are all asking. The jury, it seems, is still out on that one...

That's true, two great AV products merging into one great product. Now we shall see this great product being taken over by a product that has many bad reviews (Carbonite). Like you said, "The jury, it seems, is still out on that one...". Time will tell. Who knows, to be optimistic, it might turn into a great company.

    Hi

My apologies for posting in this thread but if I wait for a reply in the Webroot Forum I will be dead.
A check after posting in that forum revealed that most topics in "101" remain unanswered.
    Oh for the Prevx days.

I am using Google as my default search engine. When searching on previous occasions
WebrootSecureAnywhere used to indicate whether a site was safe by a green arrow/green circle
at the front of (in most cases) of each result of a completed search.

Mine does not now display as previously. Is it a Google or WebrootSecureAnywhere problem ?
Same result using Firefox, Chrome or Opera. Win 10 V 1903. Problem also existed with V1809
    Any advice/assistance would be appreciated..

    WebrootSecureAnywhere Version 9.0.24.49

Maybe try a search with DuckDuckGo. If WSA works, then it's Google. If not, then it's WSA.

Please note I am not currently using WSA but earlier when I used to beta test I noticed this problem occasionally and it used to be webroot's problem.

ain't that the truth. These companies acquire smaller companies and before long the acquired product is dead. I'm still ticked over Computer Associates buying Tiny firewall. They just buy the products, no updates and wait for the licenses to dry up. Then they usually end up discontinuing the product. Makes no sense. Sygate was a gem that got killed by Norton. Trend Micro killed HijackThis and an ad blocking software company. Let's not forget Webroot bought out Prevx and made all the promises about how great the product would be. Now I wish I had Prevx back.

Webroot always had subpar protection, failed rollback feature, weak signature... sure their users get never infected because they never crossed a serious malware...LOL
They cover their failure behind their main motto "we don't function like others", but it doesn't fool professionals. The only thing that was worthy was the ID Shield, the rest just sucked, like the way they handled support, the forum and the beta section joke (where no real exchanges was made with the devs, just change-logs...hilarious) to finally get acquired for peanuts (aka "we sell it before it is too late, so we can get some good cash").

Their anti-exploit promise was just smoke and mirror to advertise the product before selling it.

I don't know about the "Community 101" category as I search by Recently active (which includes all categories) and not by individual category, but my experience is that most queries get answered fairly promptly.

@subhrobhandari is correct that this is a Webroot problem. It's not that frequent and often this will self-correct after max 24-48 hours, but if it persists your best avenue is to contact Support.

Aint true for me as I am sure you will have noted from my posts here. As you know, before I changed to Prevx late 2006, I was regularly infected. Since changing (literally from day one), and this has continued with Webroot after they acquired Prevx and completely rebuilt their AV using its technology, I have never knowingly been infected.

But then you know that already, @guest, as you regularly read the posts here.

Regarding the future of course, the jury is still out.

    Hi

    Thanks for your replies

    (a) Tried DuckDuckGo had the same result as Firefox, Chrome and Opera. I suspected WSA
that is why I posted on Webroot Forum at first.
    (b) I check Newest First in Webroot Community Forum as it appears to contain some replies to topics
but after 3 days since posting no response.

Please note that the safety ratings only work with the Google Search Engine and not therefore with DuckDuckGo. Also the Web Filtering Extension only supports IE, Firefox and Chrome browsers so you won't see the safety ratings with other internet browsers (though there are ways to get round this with Chromium-based browsers such as Opera).

Webroot forum is very inactive these days, compared to what it used to be. You might contact support, they will probably ask for logs gathered by the wsalogs utility.

I think you might just close WSA and reopen and see if any changes in google search.

    Hi

Matter has been resolved. Uninstall/reinstall + use of fftbfix.exe and toolbarfix.exe fixed the problem.
Many thanks to all for their assistance/advice.

I know this is a bit off topic, but look what I believe was Norton did to Threatfire I love that program. It was ahead of it's time.

Well IMO I don't see Carbonite screwing up Webroot anytime soon or even ever as they are a Online BackUp service and they wanted to add a Anti-Malware to there portfolio so only time will tell to see what happens. In any case I will keep on using WSA.

I loved it when it was CyberHawk before PCtools took it over. It was a nice program. I also liked the PCtools firewall that was available for a while.

Makes a lot of sense to me that Carbonite won't mess anything up yet. I think Carbonite would have to know Webroot inside and out and that would take a long time to manage without the Webroot Developers. I am hoping Webroot does not go down hill but so far Beta's are available & updating and things are being fixed.

In many cases it seems that step 1 in dismantling an app is to change its name or make some other meaningless administrative change..

helmsman to Captain of Titanic: "Sir, the lookout reports there's an iceberg dead ahead!!! Shall I change course?"
Captain: "Belay that! Pipe all hands to mop the decks & polish the brass. That will make everything okay."
