See my earlier post. Depending on the OS version you may not see the line 'Enable Web Filtering driver'
This should only appear on Windows 10 at the moment. This provides additional filtering solutions for the system. Microsoft made certain changes that prevented the older solution from working properly in Windows 10. This prompted the creating of the driver we see here.
    ---
To elaborate further, it should not be necessary to have the driver in order to receive webpage blocks. The solution that 'boesdad' should resolve any issues with annotations, or page blocks in browsers.

    @Grashocki

Thanks, Lucas, and sorry if I was a bit "peremptory" in my reaction to your Webroot Support response quoted by @bjm_ . I knew from Karin (and from Daniel) that the Web Filtering Driver for non-beta users is only currently active in Windows 10 and only with the Edge browser (at least that's what I've been told). Also, I didn't realise it was you who was replying to @bjm_'s Support Question :(.

    Thanks for the clarification!

Right, so I'm glad that's cleared up now and everyone has the correct info!

    Thanks Guys,

    Daniel :D

Thanks for adding the word "driver". No, you don't have the "web filtering driver" because, for the non-beta version, only Windows 10 users do. See, for example, point 2 in @Grashocki's post #2934. But you do have the "web filtering extension" and this is disabled and enabled by unchecking and checking "Activate Browser Extensions".

What does this mean exactly.... Settings - currently being managed by the web console..... I see this under advanced settings in WSA.

  9. On my wife laptop I had WSA running for four years. After upgrade to Windows 10 and downgrade to windows 7 again. I lost the free lifetime license key. I must say free AV's seem to slow it down on her Windows 7 laptop, still searching for a free alternative. I really liked WSA's ability to turn the AV into a cloud whitelist using the 'seen by the community' option (same as Avast's aggressive hardened mode)

Sorry if I misled you by not specifing "driver". And thanks for all your help. It is greatly appreciated.

Sorry also if I wasn't clear :(. It can sometimes get quite complicated even for those of us who think we know Webroot.

It is as simple as that? Perhaps. Anyhow, I get the beta versions because of my testing of WSA, and this is what I see on my Surface Book, and I guess these are default settings:

    WSA_Web Shield_default settings_01.JPG

But, I guess it is superfluous for my circumstance, since I use Opera, and that browser is unsupported by Webroot, anyway. So, that filter isn't active, as intended.

Erm, yes (I just double-checked. Tip: I learnt this trick from Karin). Though (I forgot to mention this) you do also have to click the 'Save' button on the Advanced Settings page.

Just renewed my Antivirus for Gamers to Internet Security Complete, threw a copy on my Macbook Pro and Android as well. Incredibly light alongside VS and HMPA.

No malicious file activities have been detected on your devices. Webroot has classified 32,585 file activities as safe, and will continue to check all files and their actions automatically to make sure you're protected.

A note on the December Patch Tuesday updates: installing the .NET security/quality update KB3210131 caused WSA right-click scan to stop working and also caused the WRSVC service to "terminate unexpectedly" for me on W7-64. Uninstalling the .NET update and rebooting resolved the problems.

I didn't report it. I was pressed for time, so I clean reinstalled WSA, which didn't work, then rolled back the .NET update, which solved it.

Well all I can say I have not seen other reports about this issue so I can't say if it was .NET so please next time you have an issue please contact Webroot Support so they can look into it.

    Thanks,

    Daniel

In terms of the Webroot Extensions (and here specifically, the Webroot Filtering Extension) - if I remove them (using toolbarfix.exe) would this have any impact on Webroot's core security functions (like the Phishing Shield)?

In the case above, I use uBlock Origin (with the malware domains option selected) as my alternative.

Or am I being naive here not using it?

    Thanks!

See this first: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...on-update-thread.364655/page-118#post-2638680 You will still get bad website blocks from the Web Filter Driver but you will not see any search annotations Win 10. Why would you not want to use WSA to it's fullest?
