thanks Dermot7. I just enabled the firewall and the mouse is not sticking anymore. it's a brand new install of xp, so I should be able to figure it out.

maybe it was coincidence that the mouse worked properly at that time.

I don't want to give the product 'bad press' if it doesn't deserve it.

as I said before, it is working nicely.

    checked it out. thanks.

it appears to be happening when pages are loading. so I am not sure what the cause could be (but I have ideas). when I know, I will come here to wilderssecurity and say :)

Anyone having trouble with the Notifications icon not showing up after a reboot ? It's there after an install but disappears on a reboot. This is on Win 8 Pro 64 bit.

BTW, I've tried Webroot SecureAnywhere Antivirus many times during the past couple of months with always the same icon missing in the Notifications Area problem. I windup uninstalling due to this.

Just wondering if there's a solution for this besides adding a shortcut to startup.

    Later...

I said I would post when I had more info to add.

first I must admit that this compaq d5pS/P1 could be better suited for surfing on todays internet. it's under powered.

it seems the mouse issue is almost non-existent when pages load. I was in err, but...

the mouse flickers when I open the gui's 'advanced settings', it does it bad. not a big deal, I can live with it. I am the only person who is going to be dealing with that issue anyway, I am the only person who is going to be making adjustments to the WSA antivirus specifically in regards to this particular computer.

this computer is going to be used by various senior citizens that are basically strangers to me. considering the kind of protection this program will provide and also what this computer is going to be used for, I am really quite confident that this program is perfect.

about the firewall issue, I still have the WSA firewall disabled because I am familiar with my previous (and unnamed) firewall. my choice is strictly on the grounds of familiarity and nothing else.
I am considering the option of removing my familiar firewall and enabling the WSA firewall. I have to add that I refuse to run two firewalls at the same time. that's my point of view. kudos to webroot for providing the option of being able to disable the firewall. this is nice. :)

the more I use the program the more I like it.

When you have WSA installed Please Submit a Support Ticket as they can gather some logs and help you further.
