Good Evening ! Couldn't pass this up...wanted to Check Sophos Anti-Virus which Webroot uses and Spysweeper. First Full Scan clocked in at Sixty Seven minutes...and it seems to be responsive while surfing no lagging on pages. So far so good. Used to use Spysweeper about five years ago and it was resource intensive and was buggy at times. The new edition seems as stated more responsive. Sincerely...Securon

I really liked SpySweeper back in the day. It had excellent detection, and removal capabilities. SpySweeper was the first Antimalware program I used, and then Prevx being the second one I used. SpySweeper seemed to become a little heavy on resources along the way. If its really lighter on resources now then it deserves another trial run. I know it has excellent detection of keyloggers. Soon I will have the best of both worlds when Webroot cloud AV is released since both signature databases of SpySweeper, and Prevx are combined now in the cloud.

"Sophos Anti-Virus which Webroot uses". Is this true?
Am I thinking of a different product? Or did I read that Sophos didn't test well with one of the reliable av testers?

Webroot's AV product uses the Sophos AV engine + spy sweeper tech. It works well enough. Scan times are fast, on-access scanning is fast. I'd have no issue using the line myself if I wasn't already "committed", haha.

I think Webroot's AV/IS UI is one of my favorites. It's colorful, intuitive and well-polished.

Is there a chance that buying this license will make me able to use it for SecureAnywhere later on?

I expect the decision about that will partly depend on whether Webroot is planning to run the two products side by side (in which case probably not) or whether the new product is intended to replace the current product (in which case a licence transfer may be possible).

This is all pure speculation on my part though as I've no idea what Webroot's plans are for their product range.

I can see where other posters are coming from.
I used to like spysweeper. last version i tryed used tons of resources and caused crashes and bsod. I hope webroot dont ruin prevx like they ruined their own products.

true lodore. If Webroot had just left a portion of the Prevx name on the product, it would have made a world of difference. I really hope it does well, but it will be weird with no Prevx product in the open market field.

There are some assumptions that EVERY power user knows, some of them are:

    -RealPlayer is sh!at.
    -iTunes is sh!at.
-Webroot was good, now is sh!at.

I personally was a SpySweeper lover. It was sooo powerful at detecting and removing spyware (good old days...). Then they bloated it and threw it to the rubbish bin. I don't expect that the new line is any better than the latest ones. Will apologize if it does.

I can't hear Webroot without thinking of Window Washer. I remember buying it back in around '02, before the days of CCleaner.

Funny how people fail to argue in here. And now we have been introduced to sh!at by a so called "poweruser" - impressive :thumbd:

By all means people can have different experiences on different systems and so on :) I've personally never had any problems when testing "AntiVirus with Spy Sweeper 2011". My sister have been using it almost since it came out, and she loves the easyness and intuitive design. Shes running an old computer with no slowdowns or infections so far. To me a product who deserves crappy, sh!at and all those kind of words u guys make up, have to do way worse than what I've seen so far.

    Hey...
Many in this thread is bashing on Webroot telling have a crap... software it is, and yes I have tried it like many other users on this forum, who likes to try new Av programs. But come on do we not at least owe the developers to give a constructive feedback, telling them what they can do better, after our own best beliefs. JMHO

    Regards
