Waterfox is not based on Firefox 64.x, but on Firefox ESR Releases. @imdb was a little bit faster than me
Thanks guys. I have no clue what that is. So is it even worth running? EDIT: Maybe not, just had a BSOD using it.

Something went wrong with this new release. After downloading, unpacking and launching the Windows Portable 56.2.14, it tells me that it is version 56.2.12 and it updates to version 56.2.13.
After updating through the internal updater Waterfox claims to be v.56.2.14. However, Waterfox.exe shows still v.56.2.13. This update announced by MrAlex seems to be so far "fake news". Hopefully it will be fixed sooner or later.

Agreed. The only reason I ever used Waterfox or Pale Moon was for the 64 bit version that Firefox once claimed they were never going to release. Now that it exists using something with likely outdated code seems more dangerous than anything else.
I tried Waterfox hoping it would run lighter than 64-bit Firefox, but I found that a recent Waterfox used about twice as much RAM. (I only have 4 GB.)
