I've used Comodo AVS for some time now, which sandboxes unknown apps. I never noticed anything unusual in my hard drive root until recently. I have about a GB of files under the BOXRoot directory. It seems to contain some of the same directories as are on my hard drive, mostly directories with executables. Googling that name turns up mentions of it being used for sandboxing. Ok, that seems safe enough. But why would it only show up now? Is this directory supposed to be hidden and somehow was unhidden? I don't see anything in the release notes, but then the release notes are all dated 2018. What's up with that
Yes, that folder should be hidden. You can try to reset the sandbox, everything inside that folder should be deleted (be sure you don't have any important file you wanna keep)
For some reason Comodo support does not acknowledge this folder was created by them. Is this really a Comodo sandbox folder?
It's mentioned even in their forum... https://forums.comodo.com/completed...g-inside-the-sandbox-read-nr-2-t120289.0.html Maybe they have changed the name, I remember before it was called vitrualroot (it's not a mispelling, it's intentional)
Yeah, I pointed the person to their forum that talks about this and they referred me to an email address for support. I guess they'll get back to me eventually.
Looks like Comodo doesn't actually provide support. I contacted the email address I was given and they never replied.
