Thank you guys! I am going to take a break and play with Molly my dog. The only thing that I see so far is when VS is allowing things after it has been scanned by VirusTotal. Basically the browser keeps activating VS, so it kills it when the user is trying to allow it. I have never really focused much on that area, so I will tomorrow.

I can still speed up the time it takes for VS to activate when it detects a browser in smart mode. I know exactly why there is a .5 second delay that wasn't there before, it will be easy to fix, but it will take a little time.

Other than that, please let me know if you guys find any bugs! Thank you!

 

I just installed 1.25 over the old 1.25 build, and rebooted to complete the installation. I selected smart mode, and opened Firefox Web Browser. I've been using Firefox for about 5 minutes now, and VS's tray icon is still red. I tried running an executable from my external drive, and VS blocked it and notified me it blocked it due to it being considered userspace. I unticked the option to protect the userspace in smart mode when VS is off, and it allowed the execution even though Firefox Web Browser was open.

I deleted everything from the voodooshield folder at the following directory: users/username/local/voodooshield, and reboot. After rebooting I got a notification that VS is in training mode now, and will continue to be in training mode for the next 10 minutes. It also told me I had the option exiting training mode by accessing the tray icon. I then got the 2 screens explaining the different modes of VS. After that I got a screen informing me that my trial period expires Aug 17, 2013. I had to enter my email address, and password again to activate VS.

I placed VS in smart mode again, and opened Firefox Web Browser. VS enabled it's protection promptly now, but the upgrade definitely did not go smooth for me. Get some rest, and we can look at it Sunday if you are available then. I will be gone tomorrow. Sometimes when you take a break, and start fresh you will see things you did not see before.

 

Works fine the latest version.

 

I'm using build 1.25 with Windows 7 x 64. I have discovered 2 more possible bugs that I did not experience in the last build. When operating in Always On mode, and mounting an encrypted volume VS ask me if I want to enable protection for USB flash devices. I choose yes. When I dismount the encrypted volume VS's icon turns Red, and stays red. It should only do this in smart mode. I'm operating in Always On mode, but VS seems to think i'm in smart mode

Also in this build if I plug in a USB flash device while in Always On mode VS ask if I want to enable protection for USB flash devices. I choose yes. Later when I remove the thumb drive by using the safely remove hardware feature VS's icon turns red for 8 to 12 seconds, and then turns back to blue. VS should not be doing this in Always On mode. It seems VS does not know which mode it is operating in when mounting encrypted volumes, and using USB flash devices.

Sorry Dan - no improvement, if anything it seems longer.

What I have noticed is that before it becomes functional the Base Priory is set as "Normal". When it becomes active it then switches to "Realtime"

 

Some problems with 1.25

After installing 1.25 & a reboot, it still detects a new version is available.

If I click "Yes", error messages will appear.

 

Thank you for testing 1.25. If you have any problems, please click the Default Settings button in Settings / About. It should run really well then. Most users should not have to reset their settings, only the beta testers who have tried many different versions. I will test and make sure the upgrades go extremely well from for the release versions 1.09 to 1.25.

I see, thank you for letting me know. I want to make sure I completely understand what issue you are having. Basically, if you reboot, or exit out of VS, when VS starts again, it takes forever for the desktop shield gadget to come up? When it finally comes up, does it work right?

 

Yes, if you install the version below, it will ask you if you want to upgrade, but please do not upgrade, or you will get the error that you are seeing. This will be fixed once we upload it to the server for release.

By the way, is it important to have "automatically activate when returning to web browser or email" turned on? Here is disabled by default, I dont feel very confortable in Smart Mode with it turned off.

 

Yes you are correct. Except if I stop it and restart then it takes around 6 secs to activate.

Other than that it seems to work ok.

One annoying issue is that every time it starts it says there is a new version available and the icon does not appear until that is answered.

 

Which email are you using? You can set it to activate by setting it in Settings/Custom tab

 

Thank you, we appreciate that! That option should be enabled by default, I just reset my settings on my computer and checked, and it was enabled by default. Would you mind clicking the Default Settings button in Settings / About for me to double check? You will have to enter your registration info again, and your settings will be reset, but it will help us make sure that feature is enabled by default!

So it is even slower on reboot? How long does it take to come up on reboot? Once we run the engine as a service, it will be much quicker. This is coming soon.

I should be able to change the update check to come up later, I will check it out. Hopefully in a few days, we will not have that many more updates, so that will help too! Thank you!

 

Well, I would have that option enabled, so that when you go back to a web browser, VS automatically turns ON if it is Smart Mode. It really is up to the user, either way is fine.

 

Reset Whitelist option? I didnt find the Default Settings reset options ...

I noticed that too, in one version, I don't remember which one, it was disabled by default but it worked as it would have been enabled.

 

BTW, I just found a bug that was an easy fix. VS was activating when a USB was inserted in Training and Disable Protection modes. Actually, it wasn't really activating, it was just turning Blue and ON, but it is fixed now.

Once I get the user prompts / Allow / VirusTotal bug fixed, I will upload the new version, it should be sometime today. If anyone finds any other bugs, please let me know!

Yes, I know exactly what you are talking about now, it is really hard to explain, but basically if you start VS in Smart Mode, the first time you launch a browser, VS will activate, and will always activate if that option is checked. But if that option is not checked, VS will activate the first time a browser is launched, but not if a browser is closed and opened again. I will fix this too! Thank you!
