I don't use Chrome either and I have no problems with Firefox 22, IE10 & Opera 12.16 but that's very odd for Chrome to only install in appdata maybe do a clean reinstall of Chrome and make sure it goes to Program Files or with 64bit Program Files (x86).

I was thinking that is odd to o_O Chrome has a lot of folders in appdata on my machine also, but it still installs to C:/Program Files (x86)/Google I just installed Chrome to help out with this issue.

I have tried VS with Firefox, IE, Opera, and Maxthon with no issues. I have not used Chrome enough yet to see if it works ok with VS. I installed Maxthon yesterday to try it out with VS, and the latest Appguard beta to see if there were any conflicts. I'm going to do the same now with Chrome. I think i'm going to add Maxthon to my setup. I'm really liking Maxthon. I don't believe i'm going to like Chrome. No offense to Chrome users. I will use it for a few days, and see if it grows on me. Maybe its because i've gotten use to Firefox's user friendly controls that makes it easy for personalizing the configuration settings. I have thought to myself in the past though what is Google doing on my machine. Seems like I remember noticing behavior in the past like installing files not needed or used by Chrome. I could be totally wrong, but seems like maybe something like a User Experience service running at one time without my consent. I could be totally wrong so don't pay too much attention to this post. I will do some investigating while I have it installed.

Thank you Cutting_Edgetech and TH for the help! Until about 6 months ago or so, Chrome installed itself to the appdata directory, and it drove us crazy since a lot of people use it, and it made it really difficult to do certain things that we wanted to do. I think you can just install the new version of chrome, and it should install to the Program Files folder. If not, you might have to uninstall chrome, and install the new version that installs itself to the Program Files folder. Thank you!

Like I said above; Chrome has been a major pain in the you know what for years for many security applications. Appguard had to make special exceptions for chrome about 4 or 5 years ago to make it possible to use Chrome with Appguard. I'm not surprised at all to see a similar issue with VS, and Chrome. I wonder why Chrome installed to the userspace by default for so long until recently o_O

I'm not sure, but it really made things difficult.

I've had a heck of a time un-installing and installing chrome...I have been using filehippo and filehorse for the latest versions, they did not install to program files (maybe a bug?), now finally I went to the chrome site and downloaded from there which did install to program files but when I click "about google chrome" and it says to relaunch to finish updating it never finishes and tells me to relaunch again and again, so I will wait for the next version I guess.
I am sure VS will learn chrome now but if I have anymore issues i'll let you all know :)

That is odd. Have you tried to uninstall chrome, reboot, and then reinstall it? Just a guess ;).

I THINK this is the fix, but please look at the video carefully before you apply the fix. I don't want to mess up your computer ;).

The biggest thing is that VS used to have 2 real modes - ON and OFF. Now it has 4 separate modes - Always OFF, Training, Smart, and Always ON. The Shield will probably still say ON and OFF, depending on if you guys think we should change it or not.

I had to rewrite about 50% of the code to do this, but it gives us a lot more flexibility to add cool new features. I actually just now finished this part.

The only real bug that I am fixing is the cmd bug, I think that is about the only bug left, especially after rewriting all of that code.

But there is also going to be an option to disable the Deny by Default balloon, so it will prompt immediately. VS is going to block items in the user space (Desktop and Downloads mainly), if it is in Smart Mode or AlwaysON mode, whether it is ON or OFF. I hope to make auto activate and deactivate optional. I hope to have flash drive support in this version as well. There are other things as well.

Edit: Oh, and I will be adding the list of programs that activate VS in smart mode. I will actually add these while the wilders people are testing this version of VS. It is really easy, I just have to type in the process names, but I have to find all of the process names first. I will do this while you guys are testing.

Sorry about that, what a bummer... there was a lot of info on this issue when I googled it. I just wasn't sure if you were an advanced user (I assume that you are), so I wasn't sure if you wanted me to help to find a solution or not. If you want me to help find the solution, please let me know. Thank you!

I consider myself intermediate as far as computer knowledge, I reported it on chrome's forum but if you happen to find a fix of somekind, i'd appreciate it.

I see what you mean, this is a tricky one... there are a lot of people with this problem, but very few solutions. Have a look at this post... scroll to the botton... are you running EMET, or anything similar to it?

Is it possible to add a "scan folder" option like ERP has so that you can scan a directory and whitelist everything in it? VS still blocks alot of my portable programs so i'd like to be able to just whitelist that folder just like it does program files and windows.

Yes, it is actually already part of 1.09. Just go to Settings / Custom / Custom Allowed Paths.

I had already considered allow custom paths, but I did not think that would be safe to do with Chrome. I wouldn't want to do that with any application that is used as a portal by malware execute it's payload.

I just wanted to tell everyone that the new release is ALMOST ready, I totally promise! I thought we were really close, then we had some cpu spiking issues, but they are completely resolved now. I just have to add a few more features, then I will get you a version you can test for a few days while I add a few more small things.

Sorry it is taking so long, but this version is seriously cool. Recoding all of the modes made it run incredibly smooth, not that it was rough before. It is hard to explain, but you guys will see.

I will get it to you asap, for sure by the end of the week, but I am going to try for tomorrow. Thank you!

Thank you! No need to rush the release. You actually release new builds much faster than most developers.
