I have already tried that. If I disable Sandboxie, the "Edit Whitelist" still does not work. All of the other functions in the Settings window do work.

And all of the other settings in the settings window work, right?

Does the Update Check button work?

OK, I think I figured out hot to fix the CMD problem once and for all... Please let me know if this is a good solution.

If we just make it so that anything that is in Custom Allowed Paths is always allowed, and it overrides the blacklisting, will that work? I think this is the best solution... and blacklisting still overrides everything else, which is great.

I think I might change the name of Custom Allowed Paths to Custom Allowed Folders as well.

So what do you guys think? If this will work, it is pretty much finished, I just have to test it a little more before you guys try it.

I'm getting multiple blocked instances of cmd, and hkcmd. Are you working on a fix to stop cmd, and hkcmd from being blocked or do you only mean to stop the Dos command Windows from opening on it's own? Is the blocking of cmd, and hkcmd even related to the Dos command Window opening on it's own? Until a few days ago I thought I was the only one experiencing this.

Yes, it will fix the problem you are having, it really is not about the dos command window. Some people mentioned that Sandboxie and Shadow Defender were having issues with VS blocking CMD and HKCMD. I also have a local client who has an issue with VS blacklisting and blocking CMD on a VPN program, which someone mentioned here as well.

Actually, I should be able to allow the Program Files Folder to automatically not blacklist CMD as well, that way you would not have to add it to the Custom Allowed Paths. Obviously I cannot do this for the Windows folder, it would defeat the purpose of blacklisting CMD ;).

It was me that mentioned the other VPN Client being blocked. I use Boleh VPN. It installs itself in the Userspace so allowing the Program Files Folder to automatically not blacklist CMD would not work. I just have to run VS in training mode longer for it to learn Boleh's Client Software. The Command Prompt Window opens sometime when using Boleh VPN while VS's protection is enabled. Also some script Window will appear at times as soon as I close the Command Prompt. I have no ideal what this script Window's functionality even is. I googled it a few times, but didn't find anything related. I also use Shadow Defender, but have not noticed an issues with running VS & SD together.

That's right, it was you with the VPN software, I remember now! Same thing with Magic Jack, it installs itself in the user space. As I was saying before, Chrome uses to do this as well, which is really surprising since Google should know better.

So this should work. Then if there is a program that is installed in the user space, the user can just add it to the Custom Allowed Paths.

    Is that cool?

I found Windows\System 32\sc.exe on VS's Log. It was allowed. I'm not sure if this could be the Script Dialog Box that appeared or not. I did just discover something interesting. It seems sc.exe behaves like spyware in the sense that it is one of those user experience deals that you can report your usage to a vendor to improve their product. So it has been installed without my approval with some other application. I always opt out of these deals so I have some investigating to do now. I usually discover these type of things with Online Armor's HIPS, but since I do not have OA installed on this machine I discovered it going through VS's Log. http://www.processlibrary.com/directory/files/sc/25180/

Btw.. I have a recommendation to make things easier for reporting. It would be greatly appreciates if you could add support to be able to right click an entry on the Log to copy that entry then it could be pasted to a post or anything else as needed.

That's fine with me. It really has not been a big issue. I actually believe Boleh has a bug with their latest software. Actually I believe the bug has been present in their last 2 builds. I should have reported it to them as well, but i've been busy reporting to several other software vendors.

I forgot to mention the userspace vs system space deal with Boleh. I believe Boleh chose to install in the userspace to prevent requiring admin privileges. Their old client use to install in the Program Files directory, but it required the user to navigate to Boleh's installation folder, and choose the Boleh.exe file. Then the user had to right click the .exe, and then choose compatibility. Then the user had to tick the box Run this program as Administrator in order for their application to function correctly. I'm not sure why this was required. I had a few ideals of why this may be needed, but i'm not a developer. You would probably know the answer for this before I would. It may be the same deal with Magic Jack. If I had only kept up with my C++. It was just too much for me to keep up with, and also study several foreign languages at once. I may give it a try again here soon :)

Just remembered why i couldn't initially even think of trying it. Because it needs .NET :p

The link I sited above by process Library stated that sc.exe was installed by a third party to collect user's usage. I checked the file out, and it's signed by Microsoft Corporation. The file reads a tool to aid developing services for WindowsNT.

That is odd about sc.exe. I have seen it before and always thought it was part of windows, but never really checked into what it did.

I like your suggestion, we will see what we can do! Thank you!

That is a little ironic, huh? ;)

Ok, just for you I will personally code a .net free version. It will take around 2,000 hours. I better turn on the coffee machine and get started ;).

Can you run VS on an old machine or in a VM, just to try the freaking thing? ;)

Edit: What version of Windows are you running? I am assuming XP. We will buy you a copy of Windows 7 or 8 if you want it ;).

BTW why some people hates .NT framework? They even refuse to use some apps requirng .NT. Are there any solid reasons against using .NT on a PC?

I am not sure. We just used .net for a lot of VS because it ensures compatibility for the various versions of Windows.

VS actually uses 4-5 different languages in total. In the end, it really does not matter what developers use, as long as it works well and has the smallest amount of issues possible.

    Amazing experience!
How long have you been using it?
How many hours in average you are on-line daily?
    What are your security measures?

I was about to ask the same question. There is already an old thread about that here at Wilders Somewhere. Another good question would be why do most commercial developers prefer to use .NET framework over good old C++. I was thinking .NET is easier to use to build native Window's UI's.

I'm more interested in knowing why most commercial developers prefer .NET these days over something like C++ than knowing why people don't like .NET? I am interested in hearing both sides though. I think maybe a separate thread should be started for this. It will lead the thread off topic.
