As far as we know VS works with pretty much everything, except there have been a couple of conflicts. It works with Shadow Defender, but there are some refinements that we will have to make so it will run better. And 2 people have reported some issues with the Sandboxie, VS and Chrome combination. We hope to have that figured out soon. Thank you!

Yes, I would just leave VS in Smart Mode for a few days then change to Always ON. Unless you are like me and prefer Smart Mode all the time. Thank you!

It is hard to explain... but most viruses copy themselves to the User Space, since the Program Files and Windows folders are protected folders. Actually, executables should never reside in the User Space (C:\Users), it is bad practice when developers put their executables there... they belong in Program files.

Basically, if you are unsure if something is a virus or not, just scan it with the built in VirusTotal scanner. Thank you!

Hehehe, it is around 9-10% ;). Most not by choice... usually Standard accounts are forced on users with company computers.

Yes, Windows Security is definitely getting better. Can they run the same test on VS? Thank you!

    Hi:

After trying and playing with setting to get the CMD of sandboxie and other allowed it still blocks and have to allow manually. I did not wanted to check the box to not block CMD for fear of infection.

Finally I had to uninstall voodooshield, because it interfered with shadow defender.

After deleting by uninstalling some apps by mistake, while shadow mode was on, after reboot the removed files did not return and I got pop up messages of errors.

First time I see shadow defender did not work as it should. SO had to revert to a good snapshot and remove voodooshield and shadow defender is working fine as usual.

When I try to Edit the Whitelist I get an "unhandled exception error. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue..."

When I click Continue, it just goes back to the Settings menu.

Another problem. I keep getting Cmd blocked. When I click allow, I get the DOS window pointing to the VoodooShield program folder. It happens everyday and the Allow does not seem to set in.

    Any suggestions?

Maybe we can talk to SD and see if they plan to release a version soon that does not require dos commands. There are a handful of programs that still use dos commands, but it really is best for VS to blacklist them. Thank you!

Can you please pm me the details of the error the next time it happens? It should be easy to track down once I see the error.

If you leave VS in Smart Mode for a couple of days, it should learn everything, and the error should go away.. depending on what program is trying to run a dos command. Do you happen to know which program is trying to run the dos command? You can tell VS to not blacklist the dos command in settings, but it is better to let it learn. Another option is to not blacklist the CMD for a few days, then blacklist it once VS is trained. Thank you!

It would be nice if sandboxie and shadow defender would update so voodooshiled would work. Its a good idea to let them to know.

So whats the diffeence or what does smart-on and always on do?

Yeah, hopefully we can talk to them and see if they can avoid using dos commands. I am not familiar with sandboxing, so there might be a reason they have to use dos commands.

Has anyone tried to add a Custom Allowed Path to SB in VS to see if that works? I cannot remember if anyone has tried that or not, I am getting confused ;). If it does not work, it is because the blacklisting in VS overrides the Custom Allowed Paths. We can reverse this so that the custom allowed paths override the blacklisting, but I need to think about it before we do this... just to make sure it doesn't create a security hole.

For some reason I cannot get SB to conflict with VS and Chrome, they work well together on the test systems.. If anyone can tell me how to repeat the error on the test systems, please let me know!

Smart Mode toggles between ON and OFF depending on whether you have a web browser running or not... it makes VS very easy to train. Always ON will stay ON all the time unless the user manually turns it OFF.

I installed VS on Windows 7 64bit and I have noticed that if I whitelist C:\Users\Admin\Desktop\abc.exe it runs normally, but if I delete it and then I rename a new different file to abc.exe in the same folder, it is executed normally... Is this a bug ?

Sounds like VS tracks file's name, not its hash...Dan?

Is there an incompatibility with VoodooShield, and Shadow Defender? I have been using them together for months now with no problems that i'm aware of. I'm using SD Version 1.2.0.376, and VS version 1.09.

I'm using VS and SD on my daughters machine and everything seems fine as far as I can tell, I haven't tried SD on win 7 yet but it is installed.

well try to delete or better uninstall a program in the shadow mode and reboot to se if all is normal My system is win 7 64bit ultimate. The apps that I uninstalled by mistake was k9 web protection and after reboot it still was gone. Even coming out of reboot it was gone and my browsers gave k9 error message and could not browse at all. Also I tried uninstalling voodooshield in shadow mode and after reboot voodooshield gave warning needing update and was gone and a error message that 16bit program can not run and no sign of voodooshield on window.

So shadow defender for the first time failed on my machine.

How is sandboxie doing for you if you have it on? Does it give you CMD issue when it empty or you empty and get a error?
