They are actually quite different in many, many aspects, you really should try both to see what you like better! I would explain the differences but there is a slight conflict of interest!

We will change this, but I actually have never seen someone move their user profile to a different partition or drive on a system.

Rather a dispensable comment from you. In this forum, we examine and offer criticism for security software we use. I bought a license for VoodooShield and I dicovered some inconsistencies as to the alleged level of security, so I published my pertinent experiences.

natZONE, we certainly appreciate any feedback that we receive, and we will change the path of the snapshot so that users who have their user profile on another partition or drive can use VS. Once we have made the changes, we will update your subscription so you will get a full year, and we will add an additional year for bringing it to our attention. Thank you for your help!

    Hi Dan,

All is well with VS but still last on Boot Up I find on Win 7 x64, I was wondering if any other users are seeing this?

    Daniel ;)

    Hi Daniel,

How are you? I think it might be because 1.05 runs as administrator automatically, which the previous versions did not do. We won't have to worry about it once we run the engine as a service, which hopefully is sooner than later.

    Thank you,

    Dan

With all respects, I hope that once the engine is running under as a service, the default decision to disable UAC gets reconsideration....

I trialed VS when it was under Beta and liked the fact that it's simple and lightweight. However, it didn't stay long when I noticed it disables UAC by default.

I understand if a person decides to disable UAC. That's his/her choice and right. What I don't get is a security software deciding to make that choice for the user and that too without informing them in advance.

Also, from what I have read, it's best to disable UAC before any software is installed and not after.

Where did you read that? There's no need to.

when running VS in Windows 8 64 bit, if I go to my apps page and try to open Weather of Store, it says they cant open with UAC disabled. But I cant turn it on or VS is disabled. Please help.

UAC must be doing a great job here. :D Anyway, why is UAC redundant when running VoodooShield? Does VS provide virtualization of application that weren't developed with Vista+ in mind or still being developed with XP mind (with the idea everyone runs with an administrator account)?

I'm asking, because there are applications developed by lazy developers that require access to protected system areas, such as Program Files or HKLM, without really requiring, but that won't work otherwise, and UAC redirects those changes to VirtualStore folder and registry keys.

Granted, if UAC is disabled, then those applications will have all the access they need, but if VoodooShield is installed afterwards, and there's a pretty great chance it may get installed after installing other applications, then when disabling UAC, those applications I talked about may stop functioning properly because the configuration data, etc is placed at some other place (previously virtualized by UAC). You may end up with upset users. :p So, you should be careful about disabling UAC, and mostly not without alerting your users and letting them know about the implications of disabling due to certain applications that may not work properly due to disabling UAC. :)

I didnt disable it, VS does on install. But like I said, when I click the weather app or the store app, they say UAC has to be enabled which is BS. Because I can uninstall VS and disable UAC and guess what, they open.

VoodooShield says it is Windows 8 compatible. Here

It isn't. Installing it makes all the metro apps inoperable. It disables UAC which they need to operate. I would recommend that VS remove that statement until a time comes it does work correctly.

They are working on it but still, they should not say it.
