After installed the latest v1.04 & a restart, does it reset the whitelist?

    Thanks.

It shouldn't reset the whitelist, but if you are running into any kind of weird issues, you might want to reset the whitelist. We were hoping to avoid this, but we made a lot of changes in the new version. Thank you!

    Thanks for the response.

The reason I asked is by installing it over the older version & restarting my computer, it prompted me for password again ( same message - your trial has expired ....) & it also changed to "TRAIN ME" mode (before the update, it was "SMART (Default)").

Another thing, it will be good if the user can know what are inside the whitelist.

Why do you have svchost.exe in your files as some Anti-Malwares are picking it up this one is from HMP? Also CPU usage is still an issue 6+ % total.

The svchost.exe that is in the VoodooShield folder is legit, it is a new part of VoodooShield. It was best for development to name it svchost.exe, but we can always rename it if we have to.

That is odd about the CPU utilization, what processor do you have? Thank you!

I just have an i5 on this computer, running Win 7 x64, and VS is at 0.38%. Do you think there might be a conflict with Webroot or some other software on your system? If so, I can download whatever software VS might be conflicting with and see what we can do.

We have tested VS on a lot of systems, and it typically runs at less than 1%, although my netbook with an atom processor runs at 2%.

That's good to know about the files, thank you! We were a little nervous about naming it svchost, but we can always rename it. I am hoping we can remove that file all together in the next version.

With Task Manager it's 0% but with Process Explorer it shows CPU usage o_O What program are you using to watch your Processes?

I use Comodo's KillSwitch and Task Manager, they both say less than 0. I just tried Process Explorer, VS is running between 1.75 and 3.77. I wonder what is most accurate? Maybe we can find a forth process manager, and if it says 0, we can assume that it really is running at 0? :)

Process Explorer (and Process Hacker) use a cycle based method for calculating CPU usage. Compared to Task Manager this often makes it appear that apps are eating through CPU when in fact they're not. You can disable Cycle Based CPU in Process Hacker...I'm not sure whether you can in Process Explorer.

Thanks again Scoobs72, I just tried Process Hacker, and sure enough, it matched Process Explorer when Cycle Based CPU was enabled, and matched KS and TM when it was disabled!

Thank you for letting us know, we are going to change the name. Anyone have any suggestions on what we should name it to? :)

Thank you for the suggestion, but I actually just finished compiling and uploading it, I called it protectv.exe, please download and try it if you would like.

We all know that whitelisting will dominate the security industry very soon. We are just trying to create a whitelist solution that the average computer user can use and understand. Some IT people like to have tons of options to be able to tweak every little option, so I can see where you are coming from. Myself, I just want my security software to block the stuff that I didn't ask for, and to run the stuff that I did ask for. I like things simple, but that is just me.

But out of curiosity, what did you like about Appguard over VoodooShield? Thank you!
