Sorry I have been away, things have been a little crazy. Here is the latest version, I think everything is fixed and I will probably be releasing it to the public today or this weekend. I still have to figure out what prompts to add for the web apps, but I think we can do that for the next version. Thank you!

Thanks for the latest beta - although I will be loathe to uninstall 2.31n as it's been running sooooooooo smoothly and unobtrusively too. (It must be about ready for public release)

It should do extremely well, with or without the new anti-exploit protection, it really is just another layer of security. Maybe they can test VS the next time and see!

The internal updater just popped up advising of an update and offering an inflight update. I took it out of interest and as a result got this message:



which is interesting since other than what was running in background or highlighted in the notification area I had no apps open...so am a bit confused.

Have downloaded 2.50 and will do a manual update...but thought that you should know about this.

I can confirm Baldrick's problem...got the same error.
Retry made no difference....the same message showed up again.
After selecting "Ignore" there was another one....check the attached screenshot.
Ignored this one again and finished the upgrade.

Looks like it is working fine but I'm wondering if skipping that file could cause future failure(s)?

 

Trying to install manually V2.50 and got a popup saying:"Windows Smart Screen prevented a unrecognized app from starting.

 

Disable it during installation.

 

I think I will hold off on installing this build until Dan resolves the problems already reported with this build. Build 2.31n is working fine on my machine.

 

Disabling worked for me. Running V2.50

 

Downloaded manually and did it manually. v2.50 working great here. Don't wait...go for v2.50.

Ok, I will try installing 2.50 over top 2.31n. I did not realize you guys were trying to upgrade using the update feature.

 

Just to let you know, guys....
Today Dan and I had a TeamViewer session and came to the conclusion that baloon notification glitch I reported is probably not VS' fault.
We could not reproduce it without background picture and it happened probably due to the graphic driver or Aero.
I don't think user clicks tens of times in a row on the shield during normal PC activity.

 

Working very well on a clean Win 8.1 Pro x64 OS install!

It's working well here so far, but I just upgraded. I will report back if I discover any issues. I think Dan should wait until Monday to release this build as the next stable. That will give us 3 days to make sure there are no significant bugs with the build.

 

Dan, how can we test anti-exploit feature assuming that we allowed the first popup for execution?
Do you have any file or web page available?
How does notification look like?

 

Ooops, sorry about that... 2.31o had the new silent installer that will not be available until the next upgrade.

So just exit out of VS and download and install from here:

I think advanced snapshot adds your most recently used applications from Program Files Folders to the whitelist. I will need Dan to confirm this on for me as well though.
