No I don't think so. You train your existing software and if it blocks something you don't know you can check into it then allow it later if it safe. VS has very, very few popups to deal with.

Yeah, exactly, it is designed to be very simple so that everyone can use it. Other security software is just too hard to use, especially when they prompt the user with a cryptic message.

The whole idea is if VS blocks something that you did not ask for, you can just ignore it. But if it is blocking something that you asked for, you can allow it.

glad to give the $10 to renew the license :-*

question, what's the difference between smart and always on besides the obvious? For example, out of 10 programs I use, when using Smart setting Voodoo Shield only goes "on" for Firefox and Internet explorer.

Sorry for the delay on the next version. We thought we were ready and then we ran into some problems. We would rather delay the release for a day or so, than to release something that does not work well. It looks like it will be tonight. Thank you for your patients and understanding!

Always on means protection is running continually. Smart or normal mode means it is on only during possible threat situations (when you run E-Mail and Browsers, IE and Firefox, etc.). I usually use smart mode.

Hi MrGump, in Smart Mode, VS will toggle between ON and Train Me, depending on whether or not you have a web browser or email client running. Always On will never automatically toggle to Train Me.

liking it so far cause it doesn't bother me or have popups yet. Under load from my browser, firefox, it uses like 16k max so far. hey umm, so I payed $10 to continue the registration. How long is that good for and how many upgrades do I get for that $10. Lastly, will I get some kid of promo price for the full final version?

Didn't know they are now charging for the program. I thought they were going to extend the free download period until it was out of beta. What is the version number you are using?

    0.94.1

I think I installed VS a while back, not 6 months but still I did have en expired license when I reinstalled it so I went for the $10 purchase cause it seemed a small price to pay for a promising tool..

Didn't know it had been out that long. I thought it came out around first week of November 2011. I have only been using it about a month. Using version 0.94. $10 is quite reasonable for renewal. I wonder what the expiration period is.

hmmm, okay got my first blocked alert from VS. It was something like "cacls" i think and im trying to see if i can get it to happen again. At the time I was running a scan with Secunia PSI and Malwarebytes and Firefox was open... any ideas? *puppy*

I am assuming it came from Firefox only because VS doesn't seem to activate when Malwarbytes or Secunias PSi are active but I'm no expert.

Also, I put my thumb drive in and VS keeps blocking "dinotify" or something close to that.

p.s. the scans all completed seemingly without incident and the things im doing with my browser seem unaffected so im not hassled.

No I haven't seen that one. I hope they add a log so you can see what it blocks.

here is another interesting block by VS.

I use Launchy to load most programs one of which is WIndows Update. If I have FF open and VS is locked and I launch Windows Update i get "wuapp" was blocked. But I am able to open it from the start menu without incident. Now here is the funny thing, I am able to run Windows update from Launchy without a block from VS as long as Firefox is closed.

    I am in smart mode

VoodooShield is free while it is in beta, and everyone who has already signed up will get 6 months free. Our web designer is working on the website, and we did not intend for anyone to purchase anything yet! So MrGump, we will be refunding your money!

We actually released the first beta on 11.11.11.

If VS blocked something that you did not intend to launch named "cacls" it is most likely killed a virus.

It sounds like it might be best to put VS back into TRAIN ME mode for a few more minutes, and launch all of the software that you normally use. There are several processes that are hard coded to be allowed, such as windows update. I hope this helps, if not, please let me know.

I just fixed the wuapp problem, so if you right click and exit out of VS and start it again, it should be fixed. If not, please let me know. Thank you!
