How about "Tick these items to allow when VS is ON".

Tried selecting "regedit" in Tweaks and then ran regedit but would not run. Turn off VS and regedit will run whether or not it is selected in Tweaks.

 

Still have a problem with too many computers for the white list. Deleted 5 last night and now have two again.

If I uninstall VS, reboot, re-install VS, reboot, then it uses an existing white list (but can't tell which). However if I go back to a clean image (effectively the same as reloading Windows) then since it has no knowledge of previous versions, VS will build a new white list adding to the existing computers there, even though they all have the same name.

Dan, if you do get time to install Win 8 and use AX. Create a baseline before installing VS. You can then go back to the baseline which will, or should, fully delete VS.

 

If you use a baseline image before VS was installed then VS will create a new whitelist in the cloud each time you reinstall VS. I reported this some time ago. Also if you just delete the VS folder in the app data folder, and reinstall VS it will create a new whitelist in the cloud. VS is unable to identify if the computer already has a whitelist in the cloud if the VS folder is missing in the appdata folder. Dan is already aware of this.

I have been playing around with the Sleipnir browser

I have added the program to Custom, but when I run Sleipnir the icon does not turn On. I closed down all web facing programs. VS is in Smart Mode and icon showing Off. Started Sleipnir and VS will not turn On. Don't think I would even turn On when clicking on it. Closed Sleipnir and started Opera which will always turn VS On, but it won't. Closed Opera. Clicked on Icon and gave a message about clicking again to turn on. Re-started Opera and VS turned on.

Seems that somehow Sleipnir is preventing VS from operating even when other web facing programs are started.

Would appreciate someone trying this please.

Yeah, for some reason the regedit option is not working correctly. I will look at it, it will be really easy to fix. Thank you.

 

Sounds good, I just finished installing 8 on my test machine and will try it a little later and let you know.

 

I just downloaded Sleipnir and entered "sleipnir" (without quotes) in the lower custom boxes and it worked for me. I am running Windows 8 64 bit on this computer. Please try it like I posted above and see if it works. If you have any problems, please let me know.

 

I installed VS 1.27 on my Laptop about an hour ago. So far i'm having no issues. I'm only using Always On mode at the present time.

In the prior version VS had something next to disable protection for taking a snap shot of the the system. Was that removed due to a known bug? I know you had mentioned you wanted to make this build available to the public as a stable build. I just wanted to make sure it is not suppose to be in this build.

 

It will appear if you choose "Disable Protection". The reason I did that is because VS does not take snapshots when it is ON and it automatically takes snapshots when it is off. So the only time that feature is useful is when VS is in "Disable Protection" mode. I could enable it for whenever VS is OFF, but like I was saying, VS will have probably taken 5 snapshots automatically by the time the user clicks on "Take Snapshot".

Build 1.27 of VS seems to be working good. I think it would be a good build to release to the public.

I think build 1.27 should take a load off Dan's shoulders, and give him more time to code VS as a service. I'm looking forward to seeing VS run as a service.

Refined startvs so it does not use as many CPU cycles

Refined the auto update

Finally fixed the black box around the shield for XP users.

Installed over 1.26 with no problems, was prompted that a new version was available after I installed latest 1.27 and I clicked "no" to the install. So far no issues to report.
