Thanks...missed that completley.Working fine so far.Regarding memeory and cpu,its about 45 to 47 meg memory on windows 7 64 bit ,and around 3 to 4% cpu ,which is quite good. The I/O is in training mode ,and more or less stops when in smart/always on mode

    @ VoodooShield

I hadn't realised it requires NET. I & others don't have it or want it, so unless you make a version without, as you intimated you might :thumb: we won't be able to use it :(

Suggestion for web site. When you play the video on your web site it displays some other possible videos when finished that aren't V.S.'s.

The video should conclude with blank screen so you can't click on another video outside of V.S.'s web site.

Thanks for the info Triple Helix, ellison64 and Sevens!

Actually the .net 3.5 update is only required if you are running Windows XP. Windows 7 users do not have to do any updates.

G1111, yeah, we better fix that, thanks!

Is VS supposed to be in training mode (allow everything) unless the browser or certain email clients are open?.I notice the icon says TRAIN ME but the menu says SMART (NORMAL) ,when I reboot my pc ,however I can execute files that havent been executed before so I guess it is in TRAINING MODE ,and I cant alter it unless I open the browser.I dont see the logic in that o_O .What am i missing?

ellison64, the whole idea of Smart Mode is for VS to learn while there is not a web browser or email client open, that way training is less annoying for the user. But as soon as the user opens a web browser or email client, VS will turn ON, and anything that was opened before turning ON will be allowed. After a computer is well trained, it is probably best to go into Always ON mode, although, I personally keep it in Smart mode. Hopefully that make sense, if not, please let me know!

Cool Triple Helix, can you please send the log files to support@voodooshield.com? Thank you!

ellison64, I forgot to mention, "Train Me" on the right click menu is mainly used when you first install VS. It will stay in Train Me, and not toggle to ON.

What Im struggling to understand ,is why VS would automatically enter train mode if theres no browser running ,as it would allow execution of any files wouldnt it?.Couldnt i execute a virus that maybe resident on my hard drive that way and VS would be in train mode and allow the action?.It seems strange to me that VS will only block new.exes (that i havent clicked or run) unless i have my browser open ,because if the browsers not open it will be in training modeo_O

Thank you Triple Helix. BTW, I think we figured out why VS is running 2-3% on some computers. For some reason, some users white list snapshot is creating multiple entries for the same process. We will have to fix that right away!

ellison64, I see what you are saying. Basically, when your computer is not at risk of getting a virus (playing a game, looking at pictures, creating a word document) VS is learning so it will not block these programs when it turns ON. But when the computer is at risk of getting a virus, we want VS to be ON. It is kind of a hybrid between Train Me Mode and Always ON mode. That way, the user can easily train VS, without the risk of getting a drive by or email virus. Once VS is well trained, you can always put it in Always ON mode.

Thanks VS for your explanations...but sorry I have to say that "SMART" is a little bit artificial and looks like a "substitute" of WL manager. If you plan to add WL manager in next version this mode will be no needed...
of course fo me :D...you have own plans :)

Yes I notice that when I have it on SMART and open FF 9.0.1 that I would have to go and left click on the shield as the same file gets block again many times even Outlook!

ichito, yeah, exactly, Smart Mode is kind of an automatic way to add items to the white list. We are going to add a white list manager very soon, but I think we will keep Smart Mode, since G1111 and I use it :).

Triple Helix, yeah, one of our developers made a change to the server that created multiple entries for the same process, but that is fixed now. Unfortunately, the only way to fix it is to reset your white list in the settings screen. We apologize for the inconvenience. Oh, the joys of beta testing :).

If anyone is experiencing problems, please reset your white list in the settings screen.
