Thank you Triple Helix, that is probably the issue! We will look into it today, we really would like to resolve this issue asap.

Yep definitly that.I just registered changing to m/d/yy.Now that Im actually trying VS,is there any way I can lengthen the time the balloon "blocked" pop up shows?.It goes a little too quickly for my liking. Is there a setting that a user can choose how long to display the balloon information?

ellison64, that's great! Thanks again Triple Helix for figuring that out!

Right now the the balloon notification time is hard coded. We might add a feature to make it user adjustable, or we might just add a log of all of the killed processes. What does everyone think?

Personally id like it user choice,by the time ive exited the box that the blocked program throws up,the balloon notification has disappeared, and folks might wonder exactly what it said.It would also be a good idea (imo) to be able to move the on screen icon to a user position rather than it being confined to lower right corner.Other than that im liking it so far

Thanks ellison64! You can move VS by right clicking and select "Move Me." You can then move it where you want, and then lock it back into place my selecting "Move Me" again.

Yes, we are definitely going to fix that in the next release, which is coming soon!

Question! How well is the protection on 64bit systems as I see it installs in C:\Program Files (x86) Folder? And can I get the driver and file names and locations in C:\Windows? If there are any!

    TIA,

    TH

I am not exactly sure what you are asking, but hopefully this will answer your question, if not, please let me know. VS works great on both 32 and 64 bit systems. One of the most difficult road blocks we encountered was the ability to gain access to certain folders and paths, especially ones that were protected. We now have it to the point where VS will detect any file on your system if you run it as an administrator (which most people do). We also have a unique secondary (backup) method that one of our developers created, just in case VS had problems gaining access to certain things it needed.

In an upcoming release, we will run the engine as a service, this will help even more, and also allow users to run VS as a standard user.

Hopefully this answers your question, if not, please let me know! Thank you!

Yes it does so there is no driver installed in System32 or SysWOW64 as with Process Explorer I only see 1 process and it`s from C:\Program Files (x86) VoodooShield Folder! And how about termination due to malware? And also using almost 57Mb of memory.

    Thanks,

    TH

I have tried to install this before, but it requires NET framework...and I know NET can be a pain to update. I have version 2 of NET.

Exactly, right now there is no driver, just the one voodooshield.exe process. If we turn it into a service, it will be self protected, and nothing will be able to kill it. Since we are still in beta, we wanted the user to be able to kill VS just in case things went wrong. 57mb is a little higher than we had hoped, we were shooting for the 20mb or so range. That might be a bug. Hopefully other users can tell us what theirs is running at. Thanks!

Tarnak, yes, this version does require .net 3.5. At some point that will probably not be a requirement, but it could be a few months to a year.

Still around 57MB Win 7 x64. I'm not worried about memory usage I don't know it's even there with 16GB of Memory! :thumb:

16 GB? That is more than all of my computers.... combined :).

I am right at 15mb on my main computer, so it is close to G1111's.

We have tested VS on many, many computers and typically memory is not an issue. For most modern computers, the cpu utilization is less than 1% (averages about 0.2), but on my old netbook, it averages 2-3%.

Is that a consistent 2.5%, or is that the peak? It can peak that high at times, but on average it is very low. I have seen other security software run as high as 90%. What processor do you have?

Hi VS...what means this about new added mode?
Can VoodoShield detect in this mode that I'm using Internet?

Here is some info on my Laptop: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=1995287&postcount=6 And for what I can see it's a consistent 2.5%!

ichito, VS does not detect the internet connection, it detects internet applications. Several months ago, before we released VS, we used a method that detected the internet connection, but found it was more consistent to detect internet applications instead.

Triple Helix, that is odd that your cpu utilization is 2-3%. We have run VS on CPU's as old as the AMD Athlon 2400+, and the CPU utilization was <1%. Hopefully other users will post their CPU utilization so we can compare.
