if it's something you really need to play you could try renaming it to *.mpg, rather than *.vob until you find a fix, i saw that worked for someone lol.

you can try opening the vob as a dvd - select play dvd and navigate to the vob.

using a mplayer frontend (maybe smplayer) or VLC should play it too i think and/or you can try installing a new codec pack. i can't help anymore than that i don't know much about windows media player 10.

    frank,

Windows Media Player will not play vob files by default, you need to install the codec.

otoh, this vob file may not be what it claims to be. Is this the only vob that won't play, have you tried with others?

EDIT: try this first, although maybe you should read the Reviews first! -
    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Stinky_MPEG_2_Codec.htm

here's something you can try -
    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

if that doesn't work and you don't mind using a new video player you can install a complete codec pack -
    http://www.free-codecs.com/Codec_Packs.htm

this one comes with ZoomPlayer and Media Player Classic, ZoomPlayer looks quite good.
    http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Combined_Community_Codec_Pack.htm

the featured codec packs at the top are probably good too. i'm not sure if they can play Real and Quicktime media files so if your WMP can't play them you can get Real and Quicktime alternative to play them with media player classic.

another option is to just install smplayer http://smplayer.sourceforge.net/ i think it can play everything, i use the linux version for all my videos.

A quick side note. Before installing new codecs be sure to uninstall the old.
