As part of our TI version 8 eval ....

Ran backup of NT workstation with no problems. Was wondering if we can do a 'virtual' restore of the data onto a VMWARE Workstation? Do you support VMWare??

Also, can a restore be done using the demo/trial version of the software?

    Thanks for any info.

I have tested ATI with VMWare, and it works fine. Backup and restore. Windows has issues with being restored to different hardware configurations at times, but since VMWare virtual machines generally appear as the same hardware, it should work fine.

VMWare is a very good test for this sort of software, but not quite as good as testing on the real hardware, though. "bare metal" restores require proper hardware support, so although the software itself may work as designed, if you have some odd hardware (like drive controlers), it may be unfortunate if you end up in the situation where you find out that your recovery disk won't work. :)

If you want to restore a "real" machine to a virtual one, you will most likely have to use VMware P2V Assistant. This is designed for this purpose and works astonishingly well. It can handle a True Image restore as I have done it.
