I have vmware server installed and I am running a smoothwall vpn appliance.
In vmware I have the newtwork set to bridged so I can have a static IP set for the smoothwall box. I have port 2227 forwarded from my router to the IP of the SW box (this is for the VPN client). The firewall is set to interactive and I have all of the vmware processes set to allow/all ports. With the firewall on, I am able to ping the smoothwall box (192.168.2.221) from within the network, but I am not able to access it via a web interface (192.168.2.221:81.) or externally from the vpn client. If I disable the firewall, everything works fine. I tried setting up custom rules, but I am guessing that since the IP of the SW box is different from the host that eset is installed on they are being dropped? Any ideas?

here is part of the network

Router: port 2227 opened and forwarded to (192.168.2.221) for VPN authentication
Host computer (with eset and vmware): 192.168.2.106
smoothwall (192.168.2.221) running inside host computer
