Vivaldi Desktop Browser Stable Releases

Not sure what to think about this, because I still haven't seen any improvements in Vivaldi's adblocker. But I also understand it's difficult for Vivaldi not to support MV3 eventually. So extension based adblockers will probably suck a bit in the future.

 

I'm currently testing Viv 6.8 and they fixed at least one bug that I reported and it feels very snappy, so for now I'm happy. I do hope it will remain snappy even when you keep the browser in memory for days, because that was a major bug that was introduced in Viv 6.2, and they couldn't reproduce/fix it for months. But it seems they have finally fine tuned performance and Viv 6.8 seems to be one of their best releases in months.

 

That's good improvement for them. The wait for something tangible as that, even this single one, brings expectations for more, hopefully sooner than later.

 

Yes, and it also seems that RAM usage has been improved, but I don't know if this is related to the new Memory Saver feature. But even when it's turned off it seems like Vivaldi is using less RAM.

Here Vivaldi can't connect to Yahoo. Same with Chromium. Yahoo works fine in Firefox though.

 

I mean both Yahoo News & Yahoo Mail. I'm in the USA.

All is working in Firefox.

I had to downgrade to Viv 6.1 once again, because 6.8 has this weird CPU spiking problem. After 6.1, Vivaldi became a disaster on my machine. They need to hire new developers who can actually fix things.

Well, I also said this about Vivaldi 6.8 (and then things turned south), but seems like 6.9 really is quite a good update, no more performance problems and no more weird CPU spikes, at least for now. I think 6.9 might be a keeper, and I will NOT update to the upcoming 7.0, but install it as a separate version. Because new versions can introduce serious bugs.
