Vista drivers for Canon DR-1210c scanner?

I am considering a Canon DR-1210c scanner because of its quality and sheet feeder. Trouble is that the site shows only drivers through Windows XP.

Fujitsu has a scanner that I might like a little better but it is about $100 more and someone said in a review that Fujitsu told them that there would be no Vista drivers ever.

I do not want to buy an orphan or a machine that will only be useful for a year or two so need to know if Canon will offer them later.

Canon is closed today and the only way to contact them is through a 1-800 number.

Anyone here using that scanner that might know about drivers? Also wonder if the scanner is as good as it sounds.
