I have tried uploading some files that kaspersky 7.0 detects heuristically, even after some time (to let the engine update) and nothing was found. I have never seen heuristic detections in virustotal, jotti etc. from kaspersky. Does it's engine have heuristic detection at all?

Virustotal and Jotti use the old engine version of all AV's, and that's why it can't detect some files that the product itself detect.

because Kaspersky should not be afraid of the answer either way, I like Kaspersky FWIW I think any AV shouldn't be afraid of an trulthful answer, BTW this is a security forum right?

Yes, it is a security forum. Moreover, Sjoeii is not a Mod nor an Admin nor a gatekeeper of any sort here. So post what you will. There are LOTS of Kaspersky folks who hang out here.

    Correct.
    I just hang around here.
Everybody here can talk about whatever they want around here. The only problem is the fact that some people just shout around here while there are enough people who can help out in the several official support forums

careful bellgamin, Sjoeii doesn't often post, but when he does it's of worth - seems things need cleaning here, else he'd not've posted here to begin with o_O o_O

I do not need warnings from you. If anything needs "cleaning", I suggest that you either name it specifically or report it to a Mod. That's what the exclamation marker (!) is for in the upper right hand corner of each post.

emperordarius initiated this thread with a reasonable request for information. There was no "shouting" -- just a routine post.

Some folks prefer to seek information & opinions in a more independent forum (such as Wilders). I can't help but wonder why someone would want to shoo them away rather than answer their questions.

Wouldn't class Wilder's as being "more independent",it's got a lot better of late, thanks to the mods, but it used to be one of the more vocally(not sure that's the correct phrase for written words) biased forums around, with a very large percentage of threads opened just to encourage product bashing, with Kaspersky being the prime target!
