Hello. ¿How many virus recognized ESET NOD32?? For example: Kaspersky detected 711816 virus/trojans Thank you!
Hi there, If I recall correctly, a similar thread like this one was started a few months ago and was closed almost immediately by an ESET moderator. Therefore, I take it this one might go nowhere. Carlos
The number of detect threats is basicly unlimited thanks to advanced heuristics and generic signatures.
Ok. But I need not reply Exactly Is there any extact number of signatures Or approximately? Forgiveness but not the domino writing in enlgish Thank
Numbers are irrelevant. Just product 'x' has a greater amount of signatures than product 'b' that does not mean that either product is any better than any other. Signatures mean very little. Every product has a different way of counting signatures, so there really is no point.
There can be one signature for one specific file or a generic signature that covers tons of similar variants, not taking into account the heuristics that emulates the code to determine its behavior.
There a millions of virus comming out everyday, so that means everyday there an update and which incline that more signature are added so there is an unlimited amount of detection. For example you example of kaspersky is out of date and i assure you there is more than 711k detection.
Hello. Thank you. Maybe not my question Understand For example: At the signing NOD32 - v.3035 (20080417) Detected 13 virus/trojants etc I would like to know what are the total in 3035 updates Bye
No one can tell you the exact number of new threats detected after that update As I have already stated, the heuristics and generic signatures extends the number of detectable threats to a theoretical infinity.
Number of detected viruses is pure marketing tool (and non-sense as such - my personal view). ESET's policy until today is not to disclose any numbers related to "number of detected viruses etc." and not to take part in the eternal wars fought by the marketing dpts. of various vendors. I hope this policy will last for eons to come. We simply do not know how many past, present and future threats can be detected by our software. We do know how many viruses are covered by the dababases (while knowing that the actual number is higher due generic signatures), but we really do not know what future threats will be picked by heuristics or advanced heuristics.
some threaths consists of multiple compoments or files. I could be a downloader which downloads another downloader which downloads first stage installler and so on
Ah, or one of those annoying viruses that consists of several files all watching each other and the relevant registry settings and repairs any changes made by the user
