    Hi,

Can NOD be set up to scan and clean USB devices when they are inserted into the computer. It does a scan and sends me email warnings but when the user comes to see me it hasn't cleaned the virus off.

It should delete it shouldn't it not just quarantine it.

    Simon

Automatically any of AV engines(not only NoD32) scan files on access(execution, reading, etc) so, if autorun.inf will be detected by AV then malicious executable will be scanned.

How was the scan triggered? V4 should quarantine (remove) exe files from removable media upon execution if they are detected by real-time protection by any means. Only if you run an on-demand scan in "scan-only" mode, the files won't be removed.
