I loved Nod32 so much that instead of running that and Kaspersky Anti Hacker i figured it just get the Smart Security suite. Well needless to say that was a terrible idea. Correct me if im wrong but it seems that installing ESS messes with your local security policies. I noticed after installing that my networking got crippled, Windows Firewall got totally disabled in group policy settings and my computer couldn't be accessed on the network by any other of my computers. Also i adding new rules wouldnt show in the rules list. I couldnt get RDP working, so i uninstalled ESS and my RDP is still crippled. The port is open but rdp just doesnt work. Is there a way to do a complete Uninstall of ESS and revert all settings back to default before install. I reset the local security policies, and even re registered the rdp dll. Still no go. *sigh* any help is appreciated.
During installation of ESS, only the Windows firewall gets disabled and no other change to computer's configuration is done. The Windows firewall is reenabled when ESS is uninstalled. I'd try switching to interactive mode and enabling logging all blocked connections. If the firewall blocks certain communication, it will appear in the firewall log.
on installe when it asked you to enable file/print sharing, did you? go to the advanced setup menu and under personal firewall choose rules and zones. click on the setup button under trusted zone, then choose allow file sharing. ok out and it should be working after that.
