Got an alert from Sumo that ESET is outdated. It was kind of surprising because auto-update is on. Surprisingly I found the following discrepancies. http://i.imgur.com/TIQ0Z.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Ce5CW.jpg
I'm not sure whether or not this explains it completely but, according to the changelog, there was only one change in v5.0.95: Fix: Computer freezes with external USB hard drive installed on Windows XP http://go.eset.com/us/version-log/smart-security-nod32-antivirus-v5 I'm using EAV and only have a handful of files in my C:\Program Files\ESET directory (mostly .dat) that show dates later than 9/22/2011. The only file actually showing v5.0.95 in my C:\Program Files\ESET directory is ekrnAmon.dll; the rest show v5.0.94. FWIW.........
I assume you don't have notifications about newer program versions enabled in the advanced update setup.
Hi Just a little follow-up, on on how to enabled notifications for a newer version of Eset: http://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?pag...earch&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1329050710157 Over and Out
Well, I don't believe the original post has much to do with whether or not notifications for newer versions is checked in advanced setup. Rather, it's just that the vast majority of files are tagged with the previous version number (i.e., 5.0.94). Thus, when you use some third party software update checker, it looks at those (5.0.94) files and compares them to the current release version (5.0.95) of the product. Of course, the third party program will then show that an update is available.
