    Hello,

My v 2.5 license just expired so I thought I'd download a trial
version of 3.0. YMMV, but I found it to be awful bloated code.
All of the configurability of 2.5 was gone and I couldn't even
see the scanning of the files in progress, as I could in v 2.5.
NOD32 System Tools was gone, IIRC. It was just awful. Geez,
it reminds me of Vista -- God forbid.

Can I still purchase a new user name and passwd for my v 2.5?

    Thanks!

I think if you buy the EAV3.0 license, you can use both 2.5 and 3.0.
Not sure of ESS license though.

V3 is in the works and new features will be continually added. Unlike v2, v3 has features that v2 didn't have, such as improved detection of rootkits.

Well, I'm all for the detection of rootkits, but why all the awful code bloat
and the really heavy footprint? Looks like a Bill Gates dream code.

Why can't I see the files being scanned anymore?

Also, unless I missed it, where is the scheduler/planner at?

    System Information?

    NOD32 Setup?

This seems crazy what they've done. The GUI is sick looking
compared to the much more technical GUI of 2.5.

IIRC, my memory useage DOUBLED on 3.0. Say it ain't so.
Should I go back and have another look? (download again?)

    You can see the scans.

    Right click sys tray icon.
    Select Advanced Setup
    Select on demand computer scan
For threatsense engine parameter setup: Select all options
For Scan targets select what you want scanned.

You will have 2 options to view scanning progress, take your pick.

The program and the interface have changed but I believe for good . In the new version you have almost all the options you have with v2 of NOD32 + even more .

Additionally , it must be noted that v2.5 is old and quite outdated version of the v2 edition . Version 2.70.39 is the newest one of v2 edition and v2.7 can be downloaded from www.eset.com/download web-site (Home users is for you , I guess)

Just wondering, is v 3.0 still written in Assembly?

    Hello,

One of the goals of ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0 was to provide an attractive, easy-to-use interface configured so that it works "out of the box" without having to perform any major operations to configure it. I think ESET has done an excellent job in this regard. If you do wish to reconfigure the program, you can do so by opening the user interface and selecting Setup -> Advanced Setup or by tapping the F5 key. I think the options there will be somewhat familiar, although they no longer have names like AMON, EMON, IMON and so forth.

I think of all the anti-malware programs currently being developed and supported today that ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0 has one of the lightest footprints in terms of both memory and overhead. NOD32 v2.5, was released in early 2005 and was designed to perform well on the types of computers which were then in common use. ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0 was released at the end of 2007 with the same type of design goals. I think you will find that if you compare v3.0's system requirements to those of other contemporary programs they are, in fact, quite modest.

To say that ESET NOD32 Antivirus 3.0's has a larger footprint than NOD32 v2.50 is like saying Microsoft Windows Vista has a larger footprint than Microsoft Windows 2000. New versions of software typically use more resources than older versions, and NOD32 is no different in this regard.

If someone has a system they cannot or do not wish to run ESET NOD32 Antivirus v3.0 on for whatever reasons, they can still purchase a license and use it to download and install NOD32 v2.70. In case they have a question or a problem, they can contact support and get a meaningful answer. That is more than a lot of other software companies provide, in terms of support.

    Regards,

    Aryeh Goretsky

The original question wasn´t answered ; with a new licence , can anyone of us use version 2.5 or 2.7 ?

The original question has been answered numerous times before - use the Search option for further details . Additionally ,Aryeh answered the question although not directly , but he did answer it:

Again , for you , yes , you can download and use NOD32 v2 (preferably v2.70.39) with your license for ESET NOD32 v3.0 or ESET Smart Security
