veracrypt time to encryption

    Hey guys! i was wondering if anyone can tell me how long it takes for full disk encryption for a 1tb, or 2 tb hard drive 7200 spinning. also is using a ssd not secure for this ?
    any alternatives that are better then veracrpyt ?

    Your encryption speed will be most likely CPU limited and not drive speed limited. You could create a 1 gig file container and time how long it takes to complete. Then multiply by 1,000 for a TB.
    SSDs are not a good idea if you plan to use a hidden volume. Also not so good if you have existing data. Best to start with a new/blank drive and do full device encrypt.
    VeraCrypt is good because it is based on TrueCrypt and includes some bug fixes and updates.
