Can I do this? Is it possible?
Yes. All that is needed to run a vBulletin package is a webserver capable of running PHP, and a MySQL database server. (Technically, the MySQL database could be run on a separate server, on a private network, since it can be accessed as a local process or a network service.) Various BSD flavors can run these packages, same as Linux.
Take a look at the FAQ tab at vbulletin.com for more information.
Wow I can't wait to have a super secure board running on OpenBSD... swankkkk!
