I've used Comodo firewall almost since it became available. Even in the beginning, before I discovered Cruelsister's setup, nothing ever got through. With her settings I don't hesitate to say it is the most formidable available.
So have I and it was crapware back then and still is. They still bundle pup apps with it. I also know Comodo has a large fanboy base who will dismiss critical bugs. I don't deal with them. Additionally, the CEO whines and openly sells certs to scammers.
LOL, from a technical point of view I guess it's a good tool, but I also never really liked Comodo. I just hated the dumb alerts about trusted system processes. It was too much work to make it shut up, but I'm talking about old versions, perhaps the newest one are better.
Late getting back to this thread. Seems somebody from the Ukraine changed my email here and I was unable to post. Looks like it's fixed now. Anyway, I've never had a problem with Comodo. It was 'noisy' in the beginning, but nothing ever got through. The current version I have 12,2.2.7062 is light, no slowdowns and I'm happy with it. And I'm far from being a fanboy of any software. If it lets me down, I dump it, as I did with Comodo a couple of versions ago when they released a really bad version. I only recently returned. The current version is great.
Really wish Outpost were still active, or a solution similar to Little Snitch (MacOS) for Windows. Glasswire is crapware, like Comodo. I'll have to give W10Firewall a try, but that means I'll have to buy it... the free version doesn't provide any worthwhile study to make a determination if it's worth it. Outpost had a heck of a knowledge-base for their application... best on the internet. Little Snitch.. just as good, but for MacOS, and very informative.
At least it's safe to say that I sob in bed every night knowing what a real software firewall is. Even back during XP/W2000. https://cicorp.com/internet/firewall/Outpost/OutpostHackerRefused.jpg
Yep, and I uncheck those apps. Only takes a second. The CEO selling certificates has nothing to do with the firewall, and I've no doubt there are ancient bugs in the firewall that ought to have been fixed long ago. But, spend five minutes setting it up to Cruelsister specs, and you've got a light, strong defense.
Cruelsister? who is that? I bet I configure my software better than they could. Also the CEO selling certificates to scammers/spammers has everything to do with the FW and the software comodo designs. They're a questionable outfit... especially when they bundle pups and install them by default... how many elderly or inexperienced users install their software who have no idea how to operate a computer. Yet they (comodo) claims to be on the front line of defense, right... ah, and before I forget the CEO whines about having to pay av-comparatives.org to test comodo and list it
Windows firewall easily allows trusted programs, and something malicious can be installed as a trusted program check LOLBINS besides stealthy rule editing via cmd for instance to allow connections for any program with thrid party, you'd have to compromise the third party's integrity or inject yourself into the trusted process, or install yourself as a firewall, harder overall
With Andy Ful's firewall hardening, Windows firewall isn't bad. I prefer knowing what's going out as well as coming in, though, so prefer a two way firewall. Comodo, with Cruelsister's setup, is solid. Never had any malware get through. The current version doesn't slow down my machine at all, and it's effective.
It's that type of immature behavior that enables these lowlife companies and people get away with their *******
What's the point of continuing? All I see in every one of your posts is "Outpost firewall" this, and "Outpost firewall" that. It's gone. Dead for 4 years. You don't like Comodo. I don't care. That you hate the firewall and the company means nothing to me. Just keep in mind, Agnitum also had its scandal. Remember Andrey Sabelnikov?
lmfao just gonna leave this here and grab some popcorn https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=comodo+bypass Bruh ure the one that acts like a bad troll. He mentions a person cruelsister and ure like, I bet I edit my software better, u dont even know her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fight nice, children. You remind me of the good old days, Comodo fanboys get very touchy, as do my guys. But agree to disagree and move on before the Mods notice and start shutting down things.
LOL... It's done. I'm off on a new tangent anyway, using Spyshelter free. I could return to Comodo next week or next month, or never.
Thanks, I tried spyshelter free and Andy's hardener last night, Spyshelter installed OK, but refused to innitiate anything, the on-off sliders would startup red, i'd reset them to green (ON) and they's change back again o off.. Hardener was above my pay-grade, I was concerned I'd screw it all up, and possibly did. Anyhoo, I used Macrium to restore from the image I'd made just before removing FreeFirewall (& hardener) and all is right with my world at least till the next panic.
[ LOL......I'd seen it before, and Cruelsister's video showing why it happened. The bypass doesn't work if her setup is used. I'm off with Spyshelter free firewall and HIPS now, anyway, until I get bored or something more interesting comes along.
No problems here. SS free, Hard Config, and WVSX all working happily. It was busy for a little while with firewall pop ups, but they've settled down now.
I'm far from being an expert. If CS drops by, maybe she can explain this one. I watched it once and a lot going on in the video. Have to watch a couple of more times to absorb it all. From what I saw, all her settings were in place.
all this time i did not realize that you're the very same kron from agnitum forum. you were one of the mods over there if i'm not mistaken, no?
Set Restriction Level: Restricted "Run Restricted - The application is allowed to access very few operating system resources. The application is not allowed to execute more than 10 processes at a time and is run with very limited access rights. Some applications, like computer games, may not work properly under this setting." There is Block and also Run Virtually as options. This maybe could have made a difference? I find these demo videos really hard to follow. Things are moving too fast.
