    Running Win7x64
I get a similar thing happening every time there is an update, if I have the ESS GUI open. The GUI becomes totally unresponsive + there is sometimes a crash dump in the ESET Diagnostics folder coinciding with the freeze.
Upon investigation, there seems to be some sort of deadlock occurring between the update and the Automatic startup file check.

Mine didn't auto-update yesterday or today. I was able to open the GUI and update from there though. Win 7 64.

My issue isn't a case of not auto updating, it occurs when I manually check for updates. If there is an update available, then a deadlock occurs between the update and the Automatic startup file check. Usually the GUI becomes responsive again after about 30 seconds, but on occasion the only solution is to reboot the machine due to a complete system freeze.

This never occurred with the beta release and a complete uninstall/reinstall of the RC doesn't resolve the problem.

Does disabling the startup scan tasks make a difference?

    Yes it does.

Please create a process dump of ekrn via the Task manager at the moment the issue occurs. Then compress it, upload it somewhere and PM me the download link.

My GUI never stuck or anything. I just figured mine was just a server error or something. Since I was able to update manually, I never worried much about it. Sounds like you guys are having a different problem. Hope everything gets worked out. Win 7 64
