    Hi!

Just one hour ago, I had downloaded NAV updates and then after I went reading the news on MSN page then a NAV window popped up with the following message:

Unknown virus detected...and that it could not repair it. Name :
    w32. Frethem.gen@mm. source: Crazy Browser

Gee! I've never had any problem with Crazy Browser before. So, I scanned my system. Yes, NAV found the virus and since it could not repair it I deleted Crazy Browser to get rid of it. Right after, I went to a folk forum, and three people in a row caught that virus tonight! They don't know about it either.-- Sure, I went to NAV page but I didn't find anything about it. Mmm...no wonders! since NAV didn't know the virus it could not tell about it. --
    Anyone heard about it? o_O
    Bye! :) Uguel

    Great, thank you!

But was I right to delete Crazy Browser then? 'Cause I did it now! Anw, I'm happy not to have caught any bad script. And, I'm gonna make more happy people, --they're awaiting for answers and are pretty close to panick now. Thanks again!

    Uguel :)

Symantec has responded in that thread and confirmed it to be a false positive with a fix for/via live update in the works.

Any chance you just quaratined it? That would allow you to restore it. If you have deleted it you can safely replace it.

    Hi Crazy!
I wanted to get rid of the file so badly that I suppress it !
It doesn't matter much... it's a freeware. I can get another one tomorrow. .. But don't u think it's going to do it again after downloading Crazy Browser? Is there any fix ?
    Bye! Uguel :)

Well in some instances it might be better to just quarantine first. In this case where NAV was alerting to a trusted program after a recent live update, that is an indication it is likely a false positive.

Until Symantec fixes this, yes NAV will continue to alert to this false positive. They have indicated a fix is in the works and hopefully should be out soon.

    Regards,

    CrazyM

    Thanks!

Well, you're right but "profanes" like me don't think of it first. We would rather panick instead! :D

First I quarantined it with Norton Antivirus but just thinking that it could do harm to my pc and possibly loose all the work I have done... I decided to delete it ! But I'm glad it isn't anything serious, that's the most important thing to me ! Bye :)

We're glad to help in spreading some of that light Uguel. :)

Generally speaking, Symantec usually fixes these things in a day or so. And Brendon said to expect a "liveupdate shortly", so, keep your eyes open for it. Then, as you said, you can just reinstall the browser.

Well there has been another live update tonight. I'm sure we will here soon if that resolved this issue.
